Sir, I hope I have not landed on the bad books of the “Greeters Guild”. Im a reasonably well dressed old man in a Bowler, and obviously no threat to anyone, and this allows me to be a bit more gregarious than the next man. I saw a fabulously well put together young couple being photographed by a professional photographer. Had the vibe of engagement pictures. The photographer was trying to get them to cross the street with”strut”. They were a tad self conscious. In passing, and in my best attempt at the Guild of Greeters voice shouted “Throw your shoulders back and own this crossing like you own that MAGNIFICENT dress you absolute GODDESS! Take that big handsome PERFECTLY dressed captain of industry with you!” It felt AMAZING! The photographer was thrilled. It was so fun I greeted people at a parking garage elevator lobby for a while. I greeted people exiting a cross walk, and thanked them on behalf of the Mayor and the City of Boise for selecting the south Broadway crossing as their crossing of choice. I complimented many hats, and an equal number of shoes and handbags. May make this a bit of a hobby. Should the Guild ever open an extension office in Boise? I would instantly submit an application for Apprenticeship. PS am I correct in assuming the purple color of the smoking jacket indicates the Grand Master Greeter, and that lower strata Guild Officers wear other distinctive colors? Have the best day ever
