I was raised AG. Just this past year, as I began enjoying the Communion meal with my Lord, and studying His intent, I have come believe Communion is His real presence. As I watched this & communed with those present, it seems to me that I heard Bill Johnson reiterate my thoughts. I can no longer look upon the elements as mere representations. He is present in this meal and I am grounded in His sacrifice. I am changed. I hold each element up to Him as I worship and tell Him, "Eucharistia, Lord." Thank you, Jesus, for Your stripes; thank You Jesus for Your blood. I carefully prepare my own unleavened bread, and use purchased grape juice.

In reality Jesus Christ asked us to eat His flesh and drink His blood and where His flesh and Blood are then so is His Spirit. Please read the core relevant passages below of what Jesus Christ, the disbelieving Jews present and St Paul said in the Bible regarding the Lord’s Supper/Holy Communion/Eucharist, then the truth of how the Lord’s Supper can be celebrated as God intended. John 6:51-56 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” 52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; 55 for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. 56 Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. John 6:60-68 excerpts 60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?” 61 But Jesus, being aware that his disciples were complaining about it, said to them, “Does this offend you? …64 But among you there are some who do not believe.”… 64 For Jesus knew from the first who were the ones that did not believe…. 66 Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. 67 So Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you also wish to go away?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? The bread that we break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ? 1 Corinthians 11:19 -20 & 29 - St Paul 19 Indeed, there have to be factions among you, for only so will it become clear who among you are genuine. 20 When you come together, it is not really to eat the Lord’s supper… 29 For all who eat and drink without discerning the body, eat and drink judgment against themselves. God is the creator of all things visible and invisible and with God all things are possible. Therefore God is perfectly capable of taking bread and wine and changing them into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore there is absolutely no point for Jesus Christ to have employed a cryptic meaning regarding His request to “eat my flesh and drink my blood” and after blessing the bread “Take; this is my body” and after blessing the wine “This is my blood”. The way to celebrate the Lord’s Supper as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ intended is to be a member of the Catholic Church (includes Ordinariate) or Orthodox Church. Catholic and Orthodox Priests have received the Sacrament of Holy Orders by a Bishop of apostolic succession and thereby have the faculty to consecrate bread and wine to become the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. There is no other way to obey God’s request to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ. In the Sacrament of Holy Communion one receives Jesus Christ’s corporeal flesh and blood and His Spirit. Our one true God is most gracious and wise and one should lovingly accept His divine gift because “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you” (Jesus Christ). Last night I listened to this - and it touched my heart so deeply. I know the Lord was healing me . My tears turned to laughter and I laughed in the Spirit for about half an hour. I am so grateful. I am not the same since listening to your wonderful messages. Also the message flows from a vessel that truly cherishes people. You restore dignity and hope. When Jesus said take and eat my body, he had not died yet, so it’s impossible for this to be a literal command to eat his body. However, to revere and value it as if we were eating his body is an attitude of the heart that releases the power of communion.

It makes no sense to say that Jesus had to be dead in order to drink his blood and eat of his flesh. You can consume anything without it being dead! Furthermore how do we know we aren’t literally consuming the blood and body of Jesus? What kind of supernatural process happens inside of our being when we consume communion? The things of God go way beyond science and the natural mind! One time a demon called me a cannibal, at first I was confused and then I realized they were referring to the fact that we eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus during communion. If the demonic world recognizes communion in that way perhaps we really should believe in faith that we are literally consuming the blood and body of Jesus!

Sister Peace to you, God is outside of space or time, and every grace the prophets took part in was through The Cross of Christ. All Grace is through Christ. God is not limited by space or time. Therefore, your statement, while logical, appears to take into account the above possibility. There's a really powerful explanation on this topic that w Dr. Scott Hahn provides that gives greater context to the events of Holy Thursday and Good Friday.

Many career Protestant ministers have converted to Catholicism over the Bible’s teachings on Communion, and written about it, e.g., Rome Sweet Home. I weighed joining the Catholic Church vs. following Bethel and chose the former. God Bless all of us.

I'm not much for "what ifs" because they are incredibly impractical - they don't speak of how things 'are'. However, to answer your question: yes. The whole Bible is the pursuit of God after an unbelieving and stiff necked people, or has been said by others: a "love story". He made the covenant with Abraham, taking the entire burden of the covenant on Himself (meaning He would pay for the failure of the Israelites for them). He did this all foreknowing that the Israelite people would fail. And ultimately showed that it was impossible for mankind to meet the heavenly standard. Hence revealing the need for the cross. The misunderstanding here is that it's "about us" when really it's about Him. It's about His great love for us and His desire that we would be reunited with Him. 'That' we don't understand. 'That' we don't deserve. Or in the case that your question presupposes: 'that' we don't appreciate. Love doesn't stop loving because the receiver doesn't receive it or doesn't appreciate it. And God is in Himself Love. He gives it perfectly. Always. He doesn't withhold love like a human would nor give qualifications regarding it. The cross is about Him, it's not about us, even though it's 'for' us.

If an unbeliever takes communion they are symbolising what they are not. In the spring of 2022 when Charles was opening Parliament on behalf of his mother - Queen Elizabeth the Second - he was not wearing the crown because he was not the King then. Wearing the crown would not have made him the King.
