Today I will teach you how to clean the inside of your portable air conditioner to make it cool down a room faster, use less electricity, last longer, and remove any musty smells it may have. This service works for midea units as well as the TROTEC PAC 2100x model offered in Europe. I will take you step by step through the easy removal of the outer casing to give you access to the coils inside so you can clean them off. The manufacturers try to make it difficult but I make it easy. Save the planet by using less electricity and extending the life of your AC before it needs to visit a landfill.

thankyou so much for sharing/posting this ! I am a senior lady and I noticed my unit was not putting out the same cool as when I first got it. I kept the main screen clean but I knew something inside must be full of dust and crap. Then I found your video and very carefully so as not to kill myself by having anything fall on me, did exactly as you instructed ( I only had hand screwdriver, no fancy drill bits) and saw it was really packed with crap. I got it all clean and put back together. Now I am ready for the heat wave again. so, thankyou thankyou !!! I did it !!!

It needs a removable screen to clean on the bottom part like a lot of portable AC units have. I will probably install a screen over the grille to catch the dust in the air so it doesn’t build up as fast as it does right now.

Thank you for your video, i’ll buy this tool to disassemble my midea and clean the down part. Mine is fulling water in so much short time (one or two days)and there’s a dirty mud going out of the down drain. Have you any tips for that? I think it beeps insanely once in a while because of that. Anyways, thank you and have a great week.
@BillOfAllTrades2016
@BillOfAllTrades2016 2 жыл бұрын
Once you clean it out the water will be clear. The mud water is just all the dirt coming off the coils. Once you spray it with coil cleaner chemical it will get better. The beeping could be to let you know it’s full. When it beeps does the screen say p1? My advice is to put the ac on a small table and have a bucket behind it on the ground with the drain tube going into it while it runs. That way you just move the bucket to dump the water. Hope this helps. Please like and subscribe

@BillOfAllTrades2016
@BillOfAllTrades2016 3 жыл бұрын
No you don’t fill it with water. You need to always drain the water. If the unit is cleaned like in the video then there are a couple things to look at next. When you are running the unit listen for the compressor to turn on. You will hear a click when it turns on. You may just not have the temperature set low enough. If you don’t hear the compressor turn on then keep turning the temp down till you hear it kick on. Then see if it gets cold. If the compressor doesn’t kick on then it needs replacing. If it kicks on but the air is still warm then you just need a refrigerant top up.

Can you use additional filters, such as cut to size electrostatic portable AC filters on this model? Would a HEPA filter be too much blockage? Can mold or bacteria, etc develop inside these or is the coils too hot for it to survive, as in making using a filter pointless ? Thanks in advance anyone!

The two main causes of icing are lack of air flow and not enough Freon in the system. You already cleaned the unit which should take care of air flow. However when operating the unit do you have anything too close to the back of the unit that could block air flow? Example: if the unit is to close to the window it may suck your curtain up against the filter and block airflow. If this is not the issue then it seems that low Freon would be your issue. In that case I would advise taking it to a local heating and cooling expert and have them top up the Freon. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

There is no port. There is an adapter that gets put over one of the copper lines and it pierces the pipe. Then refrigerant is pumped through the adapter. As often as you can. If you shine a flashlight in the vent and see buildup then it’s time to clean. Ideally it’s best to do every year or every other year. It all depends on how dirty your unit is. The cleaner you keep it the better it will run. And the easier it will be to clean each time

Why are there two drains?
@BillOfAllTrades2016
@BillOfAllTrades2016 3 жыл бұрын
One is for the top set of coils the other is for the bottoms coils. Each coil set gets their own drain. Behind each drain is a tray to hold dripping water. So if there are two drains that means two trays so it can hold more water than a unit with one drain before it needs to be emptied. If there is only one drain it can only hold half the water because it will only have one tray.
