Bills vs. Lions: Plotting the path for Josh Allen to lead Buffalo to win over Jared Goff in Detroit

I've got to say, I love the Bills-Lions vibes. I'd like to welcome Lions fans as honorary Mafia members, and know that Lions fans feel a similar love for the Bills. Lions have more weapons, but the Bills have a unicorn and a tad bit more experience in doing this whole playoff run thing, so I really think that this game is a coin flip. Normally I would hand it to the home team, but Bills will be thirsty for a win and Lions are a bit banged up, which is why I think the Bills actually have a shot. We win last week, I give this to the Lions, but I just have a feeling the Bills will play a lot better, with the defense actually showing up and intercepting Goff. Regardless, both teams will be making the playoffs, and we had better see a Bills Lions Super Bowl. Here's to a fun, injury and coaching error free game which sends shockwaves through the league!!!

Bills fan here- Joe Marino is an absolute gift to Bills fans. He gives great analyses, as you point out. All Bills fans have nothing but love for Lions fans on every game except for when we play. Even then, Lions are the only team the Bills are okay with losing to. Unfortunately we need to win this game to have any shot at getting the one seed from the our most hated team, so I really REALLY hope we win this one, but as you say here's to it being a damn good game. No injuries, lots of big plays, and a last minute thriller with no coaching blunders on either team! Here's to lots of Lombardi's to both of us!!!

Let's focus on this game and season. The Bills are 0-3 against teams over .500. The Bills are 2-3 facing winning teams. The Lions have defeated two of the three teams the Bills have lost to. If the Bills were to replace the Bears in the NFC North, they would be in fourth place. Did the Rams put 44 points on the Bills? The Rams are the light version of the Lions! If you have noticed, in the game on Monday, the Rams only scored 12 points.

Thank you Joe! My two cents…our defense really needs to step it up A LOT. In the scheme…if worst case scenario happens and we lose this game, it won’t affect us greatly. We will be 2nd or 3rd seed for the playoffs which is likely to happen either way.

I don't see the Lions as the best team in the NFL. My reasoning is that I see them going for it on 4th down all the time. That strategy is one that won't hold up deep into the playoffs.

The Lions are ranked ninth going for it on the fourth down. The team that beat the Bills is ranked tenth - the Rams. So this is getting silly.

My comment is about them playing Madden ball and not punting and how that strategy won't do them any favors deep in the playoffs. The same as the K-Gun did the Bills no favors in the SB. When you get that far into the playoffs the teams you face don't care about those kinds of "gimmicks". They just punch you in the mouth and take the ball.

Duplicating the Bills victory over the Chiefs is the recipe for a Bills victory Sunday and a Super Bowl Run. Several long methodical drives, win the turnover battle, at least three sacks, hit several long pass plays, 2 Josh superman plays. That is a lot to ask.

@@quinnjackson9252 That punt block in the beginning, really messed us up. We were down by two TD's at the start of the game, so we were constantly climbing, to catch up. Josh did everything in his power. Our defense (players like Ed Oliver), and special teams were the real problems for us.

Off topic but am I the only one perfectly fine with the #2 seed as long as Pittsburgh wins the North? Could mean avoiding Baltimore in round 2 as they'd likely head to KC as lowest remaining seed. Reminds me of Cincy's path a few years ago where they got to play a fraudulent #1 seed in Tennessee in the divisional and then played KC in the title game coming off the emotionally draining 13 second game.

Joe relax man, you just acted like this is the best team ever in the nfl. The O line isn’t that good. They’ve let Goff get sacked 10 times more than Josh Allen has. I think we hold them to under 100 rushing yards. Just chill Joe they aren’t that great. Get Milano off the damn field, I don’t want to hear you say “he’s a top linebacker” he used to be but he’s the new Trey white. My rebuttal to that is Goff is nowhere near as mobile as Allen. If you see how successful their rushing offense is, as well as a pure pocket passer Goff is; their O line is the best but the gap is smaller than people think
