Dinkleberg! Thank you!! I bought that exact same 4pad masterlock. I set the code, but I kept playing with it and accidentally set a new code. I used a paper clip and pushed down until the paper clip went through the 4th pad. I turned the dial counter-clockwise 3 times and BOOM! I unlocked it.

Wow, i just unlocked mine🕺💃 yaay! vacation finally confirmed! Thanks. This might be useful: - I used a niddle in my own case - hold tightly the niddle on a point - turn clockwise the buttons after another, untill you can no longer turn them again. - remove gently the niddle - verify the 3 numbers are well aligned with the red line on the side of the lock. - BOOM, the magic. Thanks, I have a 4-digit combo lock of this style that was trapped with the shackle open (not closed) after someone found the lock open and messed up my combination. I was unsuccessful recovering the combination with the other popular methods posted online. Thanks to this method (with a paper clip and sewing needle), I was able to recover the lock and subsequently re-set it with my original combination.

Awesome, Bill! I should have checked for this video before hacking it off. Your technique worked, though. Has anyone ever had one of these frustrating locks "change" it's combo, accidentally? I don't know how, but mine did. Update: Doh! It did it again! This time I picked the lock. Lesson learned: be careful not to allow the locking bar to rotate 90 deg. and slide into the combo changing slot! Even without rotating the combo numbers, it changes! If I didn't know how to pick it (thanks again, Bill), I'd Chuck these crappy locks!

It worked! Though the video didn't mention false gates. In my case the clip fell into multiple combinations (like 3579 or 4679 or 3610), so I had to write down all possible combinations (-2 for every digin). And try combinations intbetween. Took me

Holy Mackerel. It worked. I bought the lock for $5-6 dollars and used it for 2 months and then I forgot the combination. I was getting ready to throw it away, but I was mad because I spent good $$ on it. I saved it in my desk drawer and then found your video. I tried it. First time was unsuccessful. But on the 2nd try, I marked my paper clip and saw the pin drop 1-2-3-4 and I had it lined up. I followed your advice. I wrote down the 4 numbers to make sure I had it lined up. Then I moved it over 2 spot to the left as you instructed. Pulled on the lock and MAGIC happened. It unlocked. My friend taught me how to reset the 4-digit code so I would never forget again. Perhaps you could do another video and show owners how to reset their locks. Thank you for saving me $5-6 dollars. I did not want to throw away a perfectly good working lock. I have had two of these locks mysteriously change combinations in the past 2 weeks - which seems to happen while they are open and accidently get rotated 90 degrees and depressed and the numbers rotated (sounds unlikely - but it is extremely easy to do accidently and unbeknownst to you). The first time I was in the gym and thankfully was headed to work out vs coming back from the shower!!!! Took my 15 minutes of guessing which numbers got rotated and amazed I found them. Just now used your method and it worked great. Thanks!

This absolutely works but you don’t have to constantly tap like that. You can just keep a bit of pressure on it and it will slide on down.

Tried this on my silver version of the 3-pin lock that I bought six months ago. I initially thought that the method no longer works and Master Lock made an improved version. But nope, I just got confused about the numbers the needle would slide in (I already knew the code). I changed the pin to a random number, followed the steps and it sure works!
