Bill, I don't think the plywood is going to solve your problem. Those nails popped from the ice. I would drill each board, and fasten them to the steel with stainless steel carriage bolts and lock nuts. They won't move again and the dirt and grime will fall through. It's just a suggestion. Good luck.

LOL Bill, you need to film your children more, it will be something to bring back fond memories after they grow up and "fly from the nest". I'll bet your daughter is a character in person, I laughed at her antics behind you, while on your way home and talking about the restaurant.

hi bill, the wood and metal expand different, so you have to drill true both parts and use bolts and washers, sooner or later all your boards will come loose

I'd say put your waders on and go under your bridge (when the water goes down a bit) and screw some brackets of some sort to the bottom of the boards to hold them to your beams. Even with plywood or other boards on top, it could still tip to the side if you get a couple boards in a row that come loose.
@big6210 жыл бұрын
Water probably got in between the boards and the steel beams and froze causing the board's and the steel beams to be pushed apart as the ice expanded a bit like what happens underground at the cemetery entrance when you say how in the summer the gate dose not touch the ground but in winter it dose. Hope this helps you bill.

the river where I normally go skiing in vermont rose out of the river channel which was just a concrete culvert that directed it through the town and rose another six feet to flood the whole town. Like that river you looked at at 8:54

BILLSTMAXX :) Here are my recommendations friend..Use self tapping screws with washers on the boards , that will keep them from popping. I bet you It was from the ice swelling up the boards causing them to pop up like that.. Drill a hole first through the board before tapping the screws in. As for the dirt fore and after the bridge, use a tamper to pack the dirt down (when moist not wet or dry) then cover with fill dirt repeat tamping then cover with crushed rock.

Putting plywood on top of the bridge planks will trap moisture and rot everything quickly.
