Hi Johnny. Back in the early 80s I bought "Checkin' it out" by Billy Boy, an album recorded in London in 1975 with Tony McPhee and the Groundhogs backing him, released on peter Shertser's RED LIGHTNIN' label. I started a band with that album as our template and we covered "Riding the El", "Don't stay out all night" and of course "Wish you would". Mid 90's we supported the Groundhogs in SW UK and I got to meet Tony McPhee and of course asked him about the Billy Boy album. He told me that it was recorded in one weekend and he did not hear the result for over a year but was relieved that it sounded OK. To my ears it is excellent Billy Boy with heavy backing ( he makes it work!) some tracks suffering from clumsy overdubs but nonetheless a great album. 1-2-99 a standout., esp Billy Boy's introductory comment to Tony. Have you heard it? Also love the French album " 10 million Dollars" with a great Chicago band and light and airy compared with the British one. How about a lesson on "Done got over"??

@@jeffthehorsehorsey awesome!! Riding the El is a great song. As a genuine blues-rock mashup w McPhee, it's a REALLY cool record! I also dig I Just Got to Know
