My first Billy Bragg show! Drove the several hundred mile distance for Woody’s hundreth birthday in Okemah. Great show!

Billy Bragg's performance Thursday night was THE highlight of so many highlights at this year's Festival. So glad I headed to Okemah on Thursday to see him. He's a terrific performer; very real, funny, terrific guitar player, awesome balladeer, and an unapologetic truth-teller. I particularly loved his definition of socialism as being nothing more than "organized compassion". True Woody spirit!!!

Glad this showed up as a recommendation 8 years later. What a great evening. I must have been standing right next to you part of the time. I have a photo from the same angle, I thing that was me yelling "All Right" after Unwelcome Guest.

Fantastic performance, love what he had to say about cynicism being our biggest enemy. Awesome stuff!

That comment struck me. "a cynic is someone that has given up and they want you to give up too because it makes them feel better..." indeed

Proud to say I was there (Billy signed my guitar after). I was ecstatic when he played "A New England" at the end

I saw billy OPEN for Suzanne Vega in Baltimore (Painters Mill) in 85 or 86. had his pal Wiggy in England, I believe. In SF in Dec 87, Wiggy showed up and they tore it up!

It is not a Fender Telecaster. I believe it is made by Jim Dyson.
@csyeager11 жыл бұрын
It is a Jim Dyson, with a 4-way toggle (I talked to Billy last year in VA.) Jim's Australian, not sure if he's still making guitars but he has no internet presence, and very little info out there.

So that's why he never plays Okemah! I always wondered... Saw him last year at Tolpuddle (and posted a shaky video) and didn't make the connection! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqiXgGVse5mlq6M
