Billy Burgos is an L.A. poet and painter. He is the co-editor of the poetry broadsheet Sic 3 and has served as poetry facilitator of the Beyond Baroque poetry workshop, as well as the host of The First Sunday Reading, a monthly reading at Beyond Baroque Literary Center in Venice, CA.
In 2009 Billy was named a newer poet to watch by the L.A. Poetry Festival. His first collection of poetry, Eulogy to an Unknown Tree, was published by Writ Large Press in January 2013.
His one man art show, The Faces of LA Poetry, has been shown at The Mike Kelley Gallery in Venice, The Last Bookstore in Los Angeles, and Avenue 50 Studios in Highland Park.
Live at Lockett's is an intimate concert series filmed in Christopher Lockett's living room in Los Angeles. It features artists from LA's eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. The performers are grounded in a roots tradition, but are not bound by it.
One camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame - just a lone shotgun mic mounted overhead in a c-stand. Nothing between the performer and the audience.
