Big Band is a dead genre. It's important we remember how great it was at the time.

Billy Eckstein was the Michael Jackson of his Era minus the big record company promotion. He was 40 years too early. RIP Billy Eckstein you made American music great. Thank you 😇😎💖👍

Yeah he was 40 years to early or even twenty because he was bigger than anyone out there and the women would gladly fight over B

I just read "Smoketown," about the black Renaissance in Pittsburgh during the mid 20th century. I had to look this guy up! He was a national treasure!

It should be noted that this is a relatively early arrangement by none other than Tadd Dameron!

Why they always make it so hard to find who wrote these jazz pieces originally

@@MrAwsome697 Unless I'm wrong, "I Want to Talk About You" is an Eckstine original, here arranged by Tadd Dameron. "Our Delight" is written and arranged by Tadd Dameron

He was as big as his voice and could sing with the best of them, and actually he could have made more money without quesstion he band but didn't want to and as a result he became maybe the biggest contributer in the delevopement of be-bop.

1. Is this from a movie (what movie?) or is it a soundie? 2. What is the name of the instrument BE plays that looks like a combination of trumpet and trombone?
@ShimonDI8 ай бұрын
1. This clip was uploaded from a collection, so probably a "soundie". 2. That is a valve trombone. As the name implies, it uses valves instead of the slide to vary the sound.
