Such unmatched talent. He embodies what it means to cross all musical barriers. His voice echoes through the halls and walls of all the shows he performed His sickness did not deter his ability to woo us with such soothing and delectable charm. A gem that is priceless. Rest in peace Mr. Fury!

He was only 36 yrs old in this video and looks comparatively healthy but his health quickly declined. Back in the late 50's early 60's as a teenager I lived in Blackpool and in 1962 with our local youth club I had the opportunity to travel to the Liverpool Empire to see him perform in those famous one night stands. Sadly his health wasn't up to allowing him to perform so I never did see him live. Up until the likes of Billy the Americans dominated out pop charts and he was one of the pre Beatle acts that pushed British performers to the front. He will always be remembered by his legions of fans and may he rest in peace.

Think he was at his most handsome here - 7 years of life remaining, shouldn't he have had so much more if the radical heart surgery was meant to repair the damage? Had he been well, he could have been like his music peers and enjoyed his career for decades more. So tragic and undeserved, he had much more potential. A truly gorgeous and talented man.

I'm gonna stick my neck out here & say that as a huge fan of Billy (& in no way whatsoever meant as derogatory) this shows the amazing individual voice I wish we'd heard more of at the time, rather than the semi-Elvis deep vibrato style, lip sneer & body gestures (always a bit unnatural) his promoters obviously encouraged of him in the late 50's early 60's & for the best & wisest of financial reasons I'm sure.. he was IMHO much more than just the 'British Elvis'. But I'm certain his fans already know this. I'm a big Elvis fan too.

In the States, they don't seem to let foreign talent dominate or even have much chance most of the time. In Britain, we allowed ourselves to be so deluged with American talent that everyone still knows who Elvis is, but I'm not sure so many people know the sound of Fury.

Let's be Brutally honest here, he sounds frail and should have thrown in the towel and given up music, no point in bullcrapping saying how great he sounded, when he clearly didn't. This guy had his heyday from 1959-1962 and during that time he was damn good and on top form a constant hitmaker.
@stevenmorris83254 жыл бұрын
He was returning from serious heart surgery so had the right to sound frail as you so eloquently put it. Look at his performance of "It's Only Make Believe" from the 1982 Unforgettable programme. That was filmed 4 days before he died and he belted it out. His final recordings were also strong. Ill health ruined his career but didn't stop him having massive success due to being so good.
