OMG Slava, I was just thinking the same a few days ago while watching some 80's videos; thought about my happiest 80's memories and just like you, my father was always there because it was mostly him who would listen to music all the time and love to go to a small and cozy theater with a second level , here on my home town of Isabela PR, to watch movies even since the mid 70's when I was merely a child and dad was in his twenties. My mom went with us every time but it was my father's idea. I enjoyed to the full part of the 70's and the whole 80's decade thanks to my dad with the companion of mom. Sad but also happy memories that bring tears to my eyes. This particular song brings me back to a trip to Epcot Center and Sea World when we traveled from Puerto Rico to Florida to also visit my aunt, and this song was being played in the radio. I was nine years old. The song was also played in the radio in Puerto Rico just like the rest of the eighties music hits and movies. ❤❤❤

Rene, No disrespect to you however; Billy Idol is and was certainly not an underrated artist by any means. He was a defining trend setter and set precedent for the founding and original defining era of music videos of by which others would be judged. If you were fortunate enough to have been able to grow up and experienced the era of the 1980's you would certainly understand why. Billy Idol is someone that clearly defined and propelled the popularity and originality of MTV in the early to mid 1980's. After the mid to late 1980's MTV went completely "off-track" and downhill with the introduction of a lot of garbage programs other venues and ultimately completely lost track and went completely "off the rails" of its original principles in the late 1980's and early 1990's with the takeover of and expression of what I and a lot of other people would recognize as dark, depressive and non-energetic and non-inspirational so called musical expressions created by so called musical artist of that era. Billy Idol and Steve Stevens still hold true to form with their personality's, passion for musical expression and energy to this day. I wish we had musical artist of their uniqueness, values, enthusiasm, expression, energy, caliber and talent.

Round of applause for producer Keith Forsey, who cut his teeth as Giorgio Moroder's in-house drummer. Indeed it was Keith's foot that kicked the bass drum for ten minutes on "I Feel Love". He also did some brilliant drumming with Sparks for the Number One In Heaven album. There's even a clip of Billy Idol reviewing "Beat The Clock" on Jukebox Jury (we'll skim over Savile's appearance on the same episode...), and you can see Billy dug the sound. So only natural he'd team up with Forsey and it'd be a blinding collaboration! One more Fun Fact: Keith Forsey also wrote "Don't You Forget About Me", which Billy Idol turned down, so it ended up with Simple Minds!

Going to a fast food place was a real treat. When we saw the arch’s it was like an oasis in the desert. We didn’t watch calories because you walked, skated or rode your bike everywhere. We all listened to the radio, record or tape cassette. We had stereos that would rattle your window. I wasn’t one of the fortunate, so wore brown corduroy pants, a t-shirt and defective Reebok’s. the most underrated Billy Idol song for sure... I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s anthems would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of EYE OF THE TIGER by Survivor, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins on my YT channel in tribute to the era of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks & peace.

Yes, born in 1972 I had the chance to live the 80s with all that it brought us new things. Groups, discos, fashion, joie de vivre, gangs. We didn't need to get drunk before we went dancing, no drugs needed. We were dancing from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. We were having a blast. We were not afraid of the future. Everything was still to be done and discovered. The years of happiness. The 90s were also full of musical discoveries. No laptops, no computer. But friends always present. Despite everything we always managed to find each other and have a wonderful time. Anyway, at fifty ... soon, I look in the rearview mirror and tell myself that all these years have gone by very quickly. Time flies ... enjoy life and above all take care of yourself and your loved ones. Happy end of year celebrations.

Nothing will ever come close to the 80’s! Everyone seemed to be more free, rich or able to become rich, accepting, expressive and happy and this is reflected in the music of the time. There seemed to be a general feeling that so much was possible and it was just the beginning of so much. It was the era of fun and excitement about the future instead of guilt, regret and global warming.
@nickgodfrey11482 жыл бұрын
