Billy Joe Shaver is the King of Texas Country & a brother outlaw at the cross. God Bless him and all y'all for spreadin' the word. He's a man Ive always admired, even when we were gettin' wasted over on the west end here in NashVegas back in the 70's. The last time I saw him was a couple years back with my other bro, Earl Clark at the Fiddle & Steel here in Printers Alley. He let go of the two young beauties hanging on him and gave me that smile & a Billy Joe bear hug.

RIP, Mr Shaver. Had me a ragged old truck, well sorta. '72 Chev c 10 step side. 350 q jet three speed Bought in '85. Neighbor called it "Old Faithful'. Donated in '12 or so. Paving project,,,,60 series tires were rotted but it still ran. Good cause for the donation (Breast Cancer Survivors, in my late Mother In Law 's name). I miss it and her all the time oh, story, turning 40 and not happy. Take the truck to my old school with my 10 speed, Wheelies across 3 basketball courts onto the grass, like i did as a kid. Wanted to see if the SF Guitar Center was open,,,,stoplight derby with a Mustang from then. Chev jumped ! Glad it did. Got me out of trouble when some gal lost her ear ring backing and gave me a hug when i found it. Boy friend was running sound. Johnny Winter ",,,i can tell he's a quick tempered jealous man". He left. called her,,,,she said i should leave. I did, passed him and his Harley on HWY 1. Good Night ;)

Couldn't have said it better adj709, glad you liked it. I tell ya, there are a few good ones out there if you look hard enough (Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland) but do they get any radio play? Course not...especially where I'm at in Boston. Anyway, yeah to me this is almost the 'perfect' country song. It's pretty easy to see and hear what Waylon did and why Old Hoss went to Billy Joe so many times on his records. Billy Joe is a legend period.
