Dear Billy, You'll probably never see this, but I wanted you to know that this song, though it may not be one of your better-known, or even one of your personal favorites, has meant a lot to me as a patient of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, and a survivor of two separate suicide attempts, one of which culminated in a four-day hospitalization in June 2015. Since my recovery from that second suicide attempt, I have tried to live each day being honest about the illness that nearly killed me, and the emotions I had such difficulty managing in the process. I've been open and honest about mental illness and suicidal ideation in the hope that it may break the stigma, and that someone else in trouble may feel less alone because of my experience. But no one has ever captured so perfectly the feelings of pointlessness that has led too many people to take their own lives as you have in Tomorrow is Today. Your song has helped me process my own feelings of despair, and it continues to resonate with me today, though I am in a much better place emotionally and spiritually now. The stigma around mental illness is still all too real, though it may not be what it was in 2015 or even in 1970. But for those of us who have been there, Tomorrow is Today will always be timeless, evergreen, and personal. Thank you for making us feel a little less alone.

Get well soon. 😊🖖🏻🌎☮️ Also, in case you didn’t know this, (this is also for anyone reading this reply) the cure for most mental problems is getting enough sunlight, exercise, fruits, vegetables, and protein, fresh air, water, trying and learning new things, cut back on negative content, and proper sleep. I hope this helps you. ☮️💚

This song is so "winter" and "night" to me. I listened to this song after my first love broke up with me in September of 1987. I would also listen to it from time to time over the next semester, and sporadically, the months and years that followed. It, and the two other songs "Nocturne" and "Got To Begin Again" were anthems to me, and alternately let me feel catharsis and hope during those times. I think it's perfectly fine to feel the low lows as long as you realize, that's not all there is to life. And yeah, it would have sucked if Billy had succeeded at suicide. Don't forget your second wind!

I'm back here again. I remember when I first listened to this song, I felt such a connection to it back then even if I didn't entirely know why. Now I know. Now I have felt every lyric, about tomorrow being the same as today, about always dreaming with no point to it because it will never come true, line after line after line. I'm down here again, back to the questions of how long should I try and live for, back to the questions of whether or not to write a note. All that fighting and instead of getting better, I've only gained experience in more and various forms of the beast of suicide, written so deeply in my brain that I can never truly be free of it. Fuuuuck.
