Dear Billy, You'll probably never see this, but I wanted you to know that this song, though it may not be one of your better-known, or even one of your personal favorites, has meant a lot to me as a patient of depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, and a survivor of two separate suicide attempts, one of which culminated in a four-day hospitalization in June 2015. Since my recovery from that second suicide attempt, I have tried to live each day being honest about the illness that nearly killed me, and the emotions I had such difficulty managing in the process. I've been open and honest about mental illness and suicidal ideation in the hope that it may break the stigma, and that someone else in trouble may feel less alone because of my experience. But no one has ever captured so perfectly the feelings of pointlessness that has led too many people to take their own lives as you have in Tomorrow is Today. Your song has helped me process my own feelings of despair, and it continues to resonate with me today, though I am in a much better place emotionally and spiritually now. The stigma around mental illness is still all too real, though it may not be what it was in 2015 or even in 1970. But for those of us who have been there, Tomorrow is Today will always be timeless, evergreen, and personal. Thank you for making us feel a little less alone.

Get well soon. 😊🖖🏻🌎☮️ Also, in case you didn’t know this, (this is also for anyone reading this reply) the cure for most mental problems is getting enough sunlight, exercise, fruits, vegetables, and protein, fresh air, water, trying and learning new things, cut back on negative content, and proper sleep. I hope this helps you. ☮️💚

Victoria Lak technically he did attempt to kill himself, but a friend of his (I think it was his “ex-wife’s first husband” (his words not mine)) found him unconscious and rushed him to a hospital. There was reportedly a note in the house reading “tomorrow is today”, hence the name of the song.

I've been livin' for the moment But I just can't have my way And I'm afraid to go to sleep 'Cause tomorrow is today People tell me life is sweeter But I don't hear what they say Nothing comes to change my life So tomorrow is today I don't care to know the hour 'Cause it's passing anyway I don't have to see tomorrow 'Cause I saw it yesterday So I listen for an answer But the feeling seems to stay And what's the use of always dreaming If tomorrow is today Still I'm waiting for the morning But it feels so far away And you don't need the love I'm giving So tomorrow is today Oh, my, I'm goin' to the river Gonna take a ride and the lord will deliver me Made my bed, I'm gonna lie in it If you don't come, sure gonna die in it Too late, too much given I've seen a lot of life and I'm damn sick of livin' it I keep hopin' that you will pass my way And some day if your dreams are leavin' you I'll still believe in you I don't care to know the hour 'Cause it's passing anyway I don't have to see tomorrow 'Cause I saw it yesterday Though I'm living and I'm singing And although my hands still play Soon enough it will all be over 'Cause tomorrow is today

I feel like if Columbia didn’t screw up mastering on the 1st release and then drain the soul out of it on the 2nd release in the 80’s (the OG recording had an orchestral background) it would’ve been one of his most popular albums CSH has a very Paul McCartney/Beatles sound to it

You're strong. You made it, you pulled through. You did so good you made a sequel in "You're Only Human (Second Wind)". I know you don't need to hear it, but I'm proud of you, and the world is a brighter place as a result of your strength in one of your darkest times. Thank you for the bravery in putting out these deep, dark, acutely personal feelings to the world, they found me...and knowing you pulled through your equivalent of the darkest days of my own life & went on to live your dreams you beautiful, goofy, New Yorker downtown man...man i don't know if i'd still be here today if it wasn't for you. This song is so "winter" and "night" to me. I listened to this song after my first love broke up with me in September of 1987. I would also listen to it from time to time over the next semester, and sporadically, the months and years that followed. It, and the two other songs "Nocturne" and "Got To Begin Again" were anthems to me, and alternately let me feel catharsis and hope during those times. I think it's perfectly fine to feel the low lows as long as you realize, that's not all there is to life. And yeah, it would have sucked if Billy had succeeded at suicide. Don't forget your second wind!

This song could be dangerous! I believe the point of him posting his suicide note is for us to look at his life now and at everything this world would have missed if he had gone through with it. The point is his Tomorrow was not the same as his Today, and he grew and was able to give this world gifts that he couldn't have even dreamed of at the time. It you're looking for a reason to stay for tomorrow, this is it. I love you

I'm back here again. I remember when I first listened to this song, I felt such a connection to it back then even if I didn't entirely know why. Now I know. Now I have felt every lyric, about tomorrow being the same as today, about always dreaming with no point to it because it will never come true, line after line after line. I'm down here again, back to the questions of how long should I try and live for, back to the questions of whether or not to write a note. All that fighting and instead of getting better, I've only gained experience in more and various forms of the beast of suicide, written so deeply in my brain that I can never truly be free of it. Fuuuuck.

For this album, they accidentally sped up Billy's vocals giving the album the nickname "the Chipmunk album". Billy was so annoyed after he first listened to this album that he threw the record down the street. It is a great album in my mind, yet I still think he's work only got better!

Chasers I think his peak is from 1977-1983. Everything else he put out is still at least a meh. Turnstiles, Piano Man, and this album are my three favorites before the peak, and The Bridge, Storm Front, and River Of Dreams are my favorites after the peak.

@@thezombiecreeper I gotta say, Songs in The Attic was my favourite album of his earlier works. Best versions of them, hands down.
