Back in 1973, when I was six, Johnny Horton version was the best song I'd ever heard.

When my dad was alive, his favorite song was Buck Owens' version of Slew Foot. I'm surprised to learn that Johnny Horton covered it as well. He was also one of dad's favorite artists. Thanks for the info!

I had the good fortune to witness Jim and Jesse pick and sing this tune in the mid-90s at a Bluegrass at the Ryman performance. In my humble opinion, they played it better than anyone! @@djjcc3232

Billy Banjo looks like Ole Slew Foot! Can’t convince me he isn’t.

And the award for World's Largest Pedalboard By A Bluegrass Artist goes to.....Billy Strings!

@rfugate42 My dad was a bluegrass picker, and he taught me how to be one, too. I can't tell you how many times I heard him say that drums have no place in bluegrass music. I can only imagine what he'd have to say about amps and pedal boards!

Horton let it go in 1963. He released it first. I'm so glad that old 64' Chevy didn't have a radio that worked. Dad could actually sing.

Thank you. Not at the 2023 Halloween show, but we did catch some of the 2024 Asheville run. More videos on the way.
