When I was a kid this shit was considered emo, I was more into rap because more could be said in 3 minutes. But hard in the paint is considered a classic now, and I can’t go 5 minutes without hearing some garbage hip hop. A decade later, I would straighten my hair and dye it black in a heartbeat. Getting older is strange, but something inside me knows the younger generation realizes it, but can’t do anything about it

I am glad they added children's help phone at the end. I use to listen to this song a lot when I was a teenager, feeling like their was no future for me. My family was distant, and put me on a back burner, it was hard. But, being a teenager, with that lack of support is isolating. Look, if theirs any teenager that needs that word of encouragement, don't be afraid to ask. For me today, I am defiantly stronger, in university, working on my degree in cognitive and social psychology. I still have my family treating me as less important , and it can seem frustrating, however I (you) have to learn to detach and follow your path. And no, it's not being selfish! Never allow another to steal away your happiness . And, today, I am above my siblings, who made mistakes. As for me, I was the youngest, but I graduated high school (with honours) went to college, and now I am in university, unlike my older siblings, who are no where and resentful. Remember, you matter! Whoever may read, and feel worthless, YOU MATTER! You'll bs something, never allow anyone to break you down. It's ok to love yourself, work on what makes you happy, and use it as a distraction.

It’s hard though not having anything to keep you going, not being motivated, it’s hard to keep grades, it’s hard having parents who expect you to succeed like your siblings, even if I went to college I’d feel like a sell out, I want to do me and be a free spirit but it’s impossible when society is pulling you down, I don’t want to waste my life doing something I don’t like, which most people do, Life is a bitch and then you die, so fuck it I guess I’m doing me.

"Teacher said it's just a phase, when I grow up my children will probably do the same" That part sincerely broke my heart, 'cause, if you think about it, it's sad, because bullying it's sad and sometimes you think there's not an exit, but there is. And thinking that sometimes, they don't find "the light" and start hurting themselves, or maybe commiting suicide, well, they will not have any future, because they will kill themselves. Am I the only one who notice that and thought about the deep words of Ben? For those who suffer this every day, I am going to remember for you the BEST words of Ben: "you' ll never, ever be alone, okay?" That's my idol, the one who wrotes something like this, hurting, and for those reasons, I think he's the best. And remember, please, REMEMBER, you'll never be alone. I love you, and others too. Don't forget that.

This song was made for my neighbour, Greg, he committed suicide when I was younger, but my sister knew him better. One of his relative married my relative, so he would’ve been my cousin-in-law. My mom used to check on Greg to make sure he was awake for school in the morning. My mom said she still remembers running to his house when my cousin knocked on our door saying something happened to Greg. He didn’t deserve any of this. Lord I pray what kids did to him doesn’t happen to anyone else ever... if you guys are interested tho, one of the teachers at his school wrote a book for him called In Full Uniform, I’m thinking of reading it, I wasn’t in the right mind to read it cause of issues going on with myself with depression/anxiety. Thought it could be triggering for me, sorry for ranting. I just hope everyone is well, and treating themselves right. There is always someone to talk to. We care.

This gave me huge tears! I got into BT years ago because they were my teen daughter's favourite - at first I was no way because I didn't understand why Ben was always screaming. Well hearing the music coming from my daughter's room day after day grew on me. I started to appreciate the deep meanings and messages in the lyrics to their songs - Blown away when I stopped and listened without judgement. I started to "get them" and when BT came to Red's in Edmonton my daughter and I were right up at the front! (I didn't last there the whole show because of the moshing, etc but got close at the side of the stage to sing along). I ended up liking BT 2 even better. Thank you guys!! We used to always watch you on Much Music as well.

From time to time I just come back to this song, I don't think I'll ever forget the song nor the meaning (and I don't want to). And I wonder how much my situation and that of friends around me improved.. or worsened, and how there's still a tomorrow. I still associate with it as in, I can still feel the pain and I completely understand how much it hurts and much of a downward spiral it is or seems. I remember the fear. And I am so thankful for those around me that helped me climb up this big hole that seems infinitely deep. Both the fear and love mean so much to me that I go and search people that are in a situation like here in the MV and try to help them in any way, carefully, letting them decide what they want and need. Demons will always be there, just as there is good in the world. Help those around you and don't step back when you're in trouble yourself, there are angels all around you.

If you're going through it just keep going. This song resonated with me at 15 as much as it does now that I am a father and husband. Lost a lot of friends over the years especially those right after high school. You're never truly alone and you can always pick things back up and put them together. There's always a shoulder to lean on.

You never had a right to listen to this song if you're a husband and father now.

Wow, it's already been 13 years...The craziest part is that this was filmed at my old high school and I was there with a group of friends watching this being shot. We were so hyped to see this on Muchmusic. Sadly my school had a lot of bullying. Damn my nostalgia.

I listen to this song for more than 15 years, I watch this video since it was uploaded and every single time I get goosebumps... just because I know that this video isn't made out of fantasies... there are so many young boys and girls outside struggling with the same problems like the boy in this video... Billy Talent is such a great band. They never fail with their lyrics and music

It's funny but Billy Talent and their songs were well ahead of the time in terms of awareness of mental health. A few of there songs like this one and line and sinker really helped me get through some difficult times. I suffered a lot with learning problems growing up and was told just to 'suck it up' and not really listened to. These days there is thankfully more awareness of mental health and ramifications of not taking it seriously. Thank god for Billy Talent!

Central Tech really changed since i've gone there. The cousin of the bassist of Billy Talent came to teach Forensics for LAWs program science academics. She came in delighted to ask us if we knew Billy Talent. My eyes never lit up and speak loudly to say yes in that class until then. I've loved this song, and band forever. I come back to this song when I'm pretty low. Makes me get into Guitar again, and strive to do well and continue moving forward. Though I don't really want to continue, daily.

This is my happy song, it hypes me so much lol. When i was a kid, I couldnt understand the lyrics because i'm french, but the intensity, the melody and the emotions in their voices made me felt so good inside me. Now I understand the lyrics lol but I still feel the same hearing this song like it was the first time. And I often blast this song in my car and i know everyone thinks i'm depressed or something but I'm just very happy when I listen to this song XD

I remember being a kid seeing this play on MTV/MUCH pretty much all day long. Was such a deep message. I’m 28 now and my friends and I still remember sitting infront of the tv watching the music video. Many of us will go through these emotions when younger, but it does get better. ❤️‍🩹 this song still hits just as hard

8 years, still listening to it. Still feelin the same way. Especially now, when I don't know who's a friend. Nearly everyone left me alone, my best friend isn't even in the country I live in anymore. Still fighting the urge to just let it all go. Slip into darkness and being forgotten. Sometimes I just can't stand myself anymore, today's the day. I don't even know who I am anymore, wishing that everything would end here and now.

I'm a young musician. Bullying meant/mean so much to me. I was insulted, abused, hitted and no one gave a fuck. I tried to kill myself many times. Back when music videos were still on TV all the time, this one would always hit home for me. I had a cousin who killed himself the same way this kid does in the video. It sucks because you never know what could be eating somebody up on the inside, people are good actors especially when it comes to depression. People like that really know how to hide their true feelings and act happy, like nothing is wrong... We almost never see it coming till it happens.
