Great video. I used Vegas Video for years and it did what it needed to do. I just switched to Resolve and have been going through a crash course of videos on how this thing works. Just watching you walk through how different stuff works has been so helpful, not to mention Fusion, which I think I will use whenever possible.

Billy is one of the YT DavinciResolve apostles and we are his disciples. We get raw knowledge, close from the source :D Tnx for your videos, completely transferred to Resolve 2 yrs ago after getting it with a BMPCC camera, never looked back. It is without doubt the future nr1 NLE. Fusion, on the other hand, is still a problem for me, just got decent at After Effects and this node system is still beyond me :)

So good video but the gaussian blur you could do that without using up your merge node background just by adding it inbetween the media in and the merge node. Then you could use the background of the merge node to add other effects on top of the video but not effected by the gaussian blur

Even though I didnt learn much new stuff, I enjoyed watching your video. Any recommendations on how to improve the performance of Fusion would be great. I have an i9 RTX3080 16gb VRAM 32Gb RAM MSI laptop and it is still sluggish as hell with slow render times. Really takes away from the creative process to wait 10 mins to see what I have done. Even if I don't create anything as complex as what my PS4 can do in real time.

Just starting to get into DR 18 and trying to understand Fusion. Quick question about the Background Node: I see there is a clickable icon next to "Color" which has the label "Image". Does that mean an image can be used instead of a plain color - if so, I can't figure out how? Or am I misunderstanding its funtion?

background node often seems unnecessary but you can use it to set the size and it will stay this no matter what resolution you import into the composition.

Good info. I am a neophyte with Fusion. What's the difference between using a color grade in the Color page to a clip vers doing it in Fusion?
@elmacox2 жыл бұрын
Any specific reason why you choose to promote the Gaussian node over the Blur node (the one in the toolbar)? The Blur node can do the same Gaussian blur but also other blur algorithms that renders faster which is never a bad thing. It also has no restriction on the amount of blur you want to use. The Gaussian node blur restricts you in how much of a blur you can do (it wont let you add a number higher that 1.0). If you want more you have to add more nodes. Just curious if I'm missing out on anything? Great otherwise starter collection otherwise, though I'd also toss in the Fast Noise node since it's also so versatile:)

Hey Billy , I m using Davinci Resolve on a laptop and it s struggling a lot , I mean , I know that the laptot is not the problem because it has a amd 5900HX and a RTX3070 and 32gb of ram . The problem is that when I m on the media pool , the footage struggles a lot to start playing back . Also the render cache just disapears with no reason and I can t playback effects ( but the render cache is still activated but it doesn t render cache ) . And sometimes ,when it renders cache, some frames are « media offline » but then I change the timeline resolution to half and the « media offline » message disapears . Even if I relink the files , when it renders it says media offline just on some frames . I got all my footage optimized media generated and they re all in different ssd for speed optimization and it still doesn’t work fluidly , I wanna cry . Do you know any solution ? I ve been looking trought the internet but no one seems to have the same problem as me :(((

Brother, I need your help, I've watch almost all of your tutorials on resolve, but I have the most annoying issue, I have a project timeline (23.976fps) to be exactly 1hr (1:00:00) for example, But when I render the video, I end up with a 1h 3s long video (the longer the render the bigger the discrepancy). do you know what causes that? thanks

Really nice information and well presented but I just couldn't stand trying to distinguish your voice from the horrible, way too loud, background "music" so I had to bail out. Find a control to lower the volume, or even better, off the music unless that is what you want your viewers to focus on.

I'm a moderately proficient hobby editor - probably 1000+ hrs under my belt. Edit/colour/Fairlight pages used regularly, no probs. Fusion would add hugely to my projects but I've decided not to spend any more time on it. There's no doubt that it is incredibly powerful, but the time investment required to learn it is excessive. In my view it is not suited for anyone but full-time professionals. Unfortunately.
@equisetuminc10 ай бұрын
I create videos secondary to my (full time) profession. In my opinion, Fusion is straightforward and easy to use, especially since there are so many creators sharing their Fusion builds. But then, I had to deal with physical video film back in the day.
