I remember when a friend who is an amazing guitarist tried to show me this "new" tuning called Drop D. I told him that is an "ooold" blues tuning from the 1920s or 30s. I started playing blues guitar in 1965 after hearing Muddy Waters on the AM radio and falling in love with blues. Later that week I bought a garage sale guitar and started to learn to play. Before that was a trumpet player.
