This song was originally recorded for their Black & Blue album in 2000 but was left off and released the following year on their hits album. It’s their song but it does use a similar opening to I believe a Swedish song released a few years earlier so I doubt you’ve heard it. Also they are more of a vocal group which is why their songs are slower/ballad-like in the same way r&b groups are. You should check out Inconsolable and Incomplete by them.

One thing you'll notice about this song, which falls the same pattern as "Shape of My Heart" and "I Want it That Way" is that two members sing the same parts for each songs. Brian always sings the INTRO or the first verse and AJ sings the OUTRO.. FOR ALL THREE SONGS! I don't know why that is and this must be why all three songs kinda sound similar in arrangement because you hear those exact same voices from beginning and the end. lol

More Backstreet Boys! 👍👍 And yes, their ballads start out rather sad at times but then as it hits the climax, it's simply amazing. 😁 Have you reacted to "As Long As You Love Me"??? Also, if you think it sounds like a cover, maybe the intro kind of sounds like from a song by O-Town called "All or Nothing". Intro sounds pretty close. The chorus... maybe somewhat similar but BSB's chorus hooks are so heavy in the beat, it really makes the song standout.

I know this is three years later with my comment here but you might have been thinking about the song ordinary world by Drann Drann might have spelled it incorrectly but it has a similar message and tempo also build up too. You have to check out A.J. when he went solo as "Johnny No-Name." It was really strange to hear him without the boys backing him up. Also check out "Nobody But You" to hear Kevin's awesome solo! It was much better seeing him sing it in person with those glistening abs and sexy moves on full display or A.J.'s "Lay Down Beside Me". Saw it live July 8th 1998.
