I hope one day i'll be just as good as her! I play basketball with my headscarf aswell! (but with my neck covered also). People always look weird at me cause i wear a headscarf, but mostly after the game they compliment me, they never thought i'd be so fast and good. She really inspired me now to not give up on basketball just because my religion!

Keep it up in Memphis! We need some drive like yours! Go Lady Tigers!

First off, it is a Hijab. Second, the SI article wasnt deceptive ("full Muslim dress, arms and legs covered beneath her uniform, wearing a head scarf, or hijab."). Third, congrats to Bilqis, all the best at Memphis.

After reading the SI column, I was expecting the full facial covering. That would be a sight coming down the court. Roberts needs to retake English 101, especially the part about description.

I too think it's deceptive actually... the description left the impression that she was playing in a Burqa, along with the hijab. Not that it matters, her accomplishments are what's important. As I said elsewhere... talented, smart and gorgeous as well... a suitable role model for young ladies everywhere.

SI made it sound like she was playing with face covered -in a full (UnderArmour) robe with a basketball uniform over it -- "full Muslim dress. " I don't think I would have noticed what she played in but for the article. Congrats to Bilqis!!

She's not wearing a Hijab like the Sports Illustrated article said she wears when she plays. It looks more like a Dew Rag. Hijab Any kind of veil-it could be a curtain, a facial veil, etc. The facial Hijab is divided into two types: 1. Niqab: full facial covering. 2. Khimar: partial facial covering, i.e., it covers the face, but leaves the eyes exposed

why so ignorant? could YOU play like that. this girl can play and she is silencing critics like you. i can't wait to see her at Memphis.

Great accomplishment. only problem i have is that she has had games where she has only had 2 teammates that scored in the whole game. Not good coaching or teamwork. she wont pull that off in college. memphis sucks in women also.
