Have you ever wondered how the most advanced direct fit coilover on the market works? Hopefully this clears it up a bit for you. Bilstein invented the modern shock absorber almost 70 years ago now and has continued to innovate since, besides making OEM dampers for supercars they also have some really cool stuff for the offroad market today. This is a really rad product and after seeing it work first hand we're amped to get our own set soon.

Absolutely changed my whole outlook on how you drive on and off road. Being able to chill over holes and off camber terrain puts a smile on my face. It is truly superior. 💥

I’ve been having difficulty understanding this setup versus something like a KINGS adjustable or the Fox DSC and this makes so much sense. The video demonstration of the before/after explaining it also helps a ton. Definitely sold on these when I’m ready to swap out my 5100’s and OME springs

Props Here - Sent Ian an e-mail with some specific questions on my Tundra and set up options for the 6100 vs 8100 comparison. His response was extremely helpful. Solid advice from what seems like a solid guy. Appreciate it Ian.

I just had these put on my F150 and while I have had limited time with them, they are fantastic. I put 5160s in the rear as I couldn't find 8100s anywhere and they are holding there own for the time being. This truck is my daily driver and while it has eliminated nose dive and dramatically improved body roll on road, I do not feel like I have sacrificed any of the on road characteristics. I only go on limited off-road adventures, but have no doubt that these will easily take my family and I wherever we need to go, comfortably and reliably.

Super late reply but they are going to be making batches of the rear bypasses for the f150 soon. The parts got discontinued in anticipation of them re-branding the product line and adding 3 external adjusters.

I've been nagging them about long travel and universal applications a bunch so hopefully they'll make it happen soon! There's about 20 interview episodes lined up i just need more free time to do them right now. I want to try and dedicate myself to doing them once every 2 weeks no matter what but well see.

I have a 2021 Ram 1500 LARAMIE SPORT 4×4. I have a 2 in level kit and was thinking about using the Readylift Control Arms and use the RL 2" Top Hat STRUT Spacer with either the Bilstein B8 6112 or B8 8112 and then only set the struts at 1" for a 3" lift/level. Only problem I see is the B8 8112 had a bottom mount strut hat and iBooks like they use COILS for lift as opposed to adjusting the STRUT.. So can this make the ride much more stiff and would it even work with a strut spacer.

Would it be a possible option to add a 1/4" shim onto these shocks and then adjust them down, instead of maxing out the adjustment height?

I have been waiting while I try and decide between the Kings and Icons but after your excellent informative video I am sure the 8112s are the best coilovers for my setup and how I drive my f150. It seems that the adjustable reservoir is not really needed here on the 8112 or am I wrong and should wait for the adjustable version I am hearing rumors about that are in developement?
@SeanReyes
@SeanReyes 2 жыл бұрын
There are adjustable 8112s coming, which will be low/high speed adjustment. Its rumored that you can upfit existing 8112 coilover reservoirs to house the adjustment mechanic.

I was hoping this would be the case but it looks like you'll need a whole new JCO assembly and top cap, it ends up being more worth it to just get the new version and sell the old one. That's what im doing for our tundra. The new version is dual compression adjusters and adjustable compression zone, in the next year or so they will have an adjustable rebound zone as well for 4 external adjusters.

As far as I’ve been able to find, they don’t make these for the 3rd Gen 4Runner, correct? Or has that changed? Seeing as this vid is 3yrs old (Hoping I’m somehow wrong). But my front struts just gave out and I was looking to replace or upgrade the currently installed (D558-TO) fronts and (5125) rears with the 8112 set-up if it’s compatible. Thanks

Do you know what the service intervals are with the 8112s? Do you need to rebuild them every 40k-50k?
@DeuceDeuceBravo
@DeuceDeuceBravo Жыл бұрын
Bilstein says they don't have a set maintenance interval, only that they should be serviced when they lose performance or leak. Obviously heavy off-road use will wear them out quicker.

Its unfortunately sitting by the wayside gathering rust. I'm massively burnt out on it and have started robbing parts for customer builds... I'll be starting building our supercharged double cab tacoma soon and then i may revisit the rear bed design but put it on a larger platform.

@WheelEveryWeekend
@WheelEveryWeekend Жыл бұрын
the 2.5 PES are a cool product, but you cant really compare a velocity sensitive shock to a velocity sensitive and 5 zone position sensitive shock. It's not really fair. Fox has some ineresting IBP tech but its better suited to universal products, im running them on the solid axle swap truck im building right now.
