If you set the height adjusters on the front to the lowest position, you can fit the new spring without using spring compressors. Nice time saver and also doesn't risk damaging the blue paint on the springs.

@@BMWDIYGuy Great video, just fitted these myself today to my 435d, outdoors, with just a few floor jacks and axle stands. The biggest problem I found on both sides was getting the 21mm bolt back in for the rear suspension, it just kept trying to go at an angle and wouldn't line up. Having recently hit 53 I think Im getting to the stage of 'I'm too old for this shit'! Hoping the aches and pains fade by the weekend.....
@dylan-nguyen2 жыл бұрын
btw I think the settling is only for the ride height as the springs get compressed a bit under the car but yup I think you should align it asap

Comprehensive verbal description but can I suggest you post the actual filming of you doing the work as it would help viewers a lot more.

Completely understand and in my own way agree.. its always a balance between too little and too much detail. I get about equal comments to add MORE but then also folks who want more summarization. *shrug* Always trying to find the right balance.

I know it’s been a couple years if you wanted max height vs max lowering would you adjust the front collars at the top of the threads? Max height would be the minimum I would want the car lowered

My guess would be first something is loose. Check EVERYTHING to ensure no components are loose, and moving.

Great video, I have question though. Did you have to get the set with the EDC system on? I have a 435i Xdrive Mspec and I'm not sure if I could your setup or need the EDC one.
@BMWDIYGuy3 жыл бұрын
I did not need the edc as my car didn't have that originally
@cliffwalden40383 жыл бұрын
You didn't mention anything about the car's "Sport" suspension settings? What effect did this have on the suspension settings in the car? My 435i M-Sport does not have the electronic shocks, but you can plainly tell a suspension difference when in "Sport" modes. I have been contemplating coilovers. But I dont want to lose the in-cabin adjustability, or freak the computer out because the OEM shocks are missing. Thanks.
@BMWDIYGuy3 жыл бұрын
I would do a vin lookup to confirm your suspension. If they are not electronic, then they don't change in any way as you move through modes. The F32 didn't have electronic suspension so didn't need to work with that. You can also get an EDC delete module to trick out the system if you do.

is there any way to do this without the front collar spreader socket?
@BMWDIYGuy4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can always use a strong short flat screwdriver. The spreader through us cheap off Amazon or local shop.

@@BMWDIYGuy Unscrew locking bolt, slide a thin plate in the gap, screw bolt from the back side, against the plate in the gap. This will pry open the strut housing... Of course use common sense or you'll put a crack in it

When adjusting ride height i it basically a 1:1 with adjusting the thread distance to how much lower/higher the ride height changes? i.e., if you adjust the threads in the front 1/2" lower will you also be adjusting the ride height 1/2" lower?
