I love this a lot! The only thing I think i would change personally is that taking the item off can still be used by other Pokemon, but it just empties all of the essence when taken off. I think that's more intuitive and also means if you wanted to take it off to evolve your guy into the original type, the item isn't wasted. Plus it makes it easier to change your mind if I thought i wanted electric but i really want fire. I just take it off and give it back, selecting a new type

The concept of elemental variants for different pokemon is ingenious. It fits perfectly with how some zelda enemies have different variants based on location and the elemental flask connects it beautifully. The Lycub line is just amazing. It's nice to see some pseudo-legendaries that aren't dragons. The evolutionary method for the line is nuts with how much you have to do to evolve into its middle stage. The elemental forms for Centyrant look crazy. If I had to pick a favorite by design, it would have to be the toxic/malice variant. The electric one is my personal favorite and the one I would want to use.

Agreed! It could give a new view to the pokemon games but, i actually already had this elemental variants on the last year, but mine are actually more like a transformation then a elemental variant if you can understand. What i meant is my mechanic is more like a mega or gigantamax then a secondary kind of regional variant, get it?

Really cool designs and an interesting mechanic, I just wanted to point out that at first Centyrant's pose looked awkward because the arm may look like part of its back, but then the alt forms came and because that made sense why the pose is good, that way you can show its "hands" way better.

I think the flask mechanic is a great addition! It seems to work similarly to the evo stones of pokemon, but in a more streamlined way. Also curious if it's only going to be the 4 elemental types you can pick from in the video, or if it will include more, like how Eevee has the 8 'special ' types as its evos. Also that Toxic Centyrant looks awesome, the neutral color scheme with malice accents works very well!

Yooo Looking awesome you’ve done the mighty Lynel Justice XD The Elemental Variant Mechanic is super interesting! Though I feel for those people who like too 101% the Pokédex by getting all forms may find it annoying, an upgrade to the elemental flask at some point that allows an instant change to form may be wise (maybe Implement the great fairy upgrades for this though I do suggest making it a real challenge to either reach or earn the favor of this particular Fairy) Out of the Centyrant Forms I definitely love the Electric one the most! gives me major Rajang Vibes and I love that Crazy monkey XD This Video has also got me very interested to see how you handle Moves and Move Pools though it will prob be easy “X will learn Flamethrower/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt at X level depending on form” and all that Thank you for the great video and see you in the next instalment of Link Dimension ^-^

@@thatoneguy5187 That's not what I mean. A good design progression should make increases in size apparent by simply looking at their relative proportions, like for example how first-stage starters have bigger heads relative to their bodies than their evolutions, which have about the same head size, but their bodies are visually much larger by comparison

How cool! Though, realistically, if this was a game I don’t think I’d have the chance of getting one to level 100… As for the look of Centyrant, I liked the electrical and toxic colors the most. The eyeball on the fist is a good thematic choice as well! I could see it being used in the wild similarly to why tigers have spots on the back of their ears: fooling others into thinking it has another set of eyes. Except in this case, it’d be more like not having a blind spot to use against Centryant…?

I like that you took a common pattern in the Zelda franchise regarding enemies and turned it into a regional mechanic that does more than give a single-use in-battle effect. It's really interesting. Lycub just looks grumpy and I love it. That Champleon can evolve as early as level 21 if you can figure out a way to beat one of each pokémon for Lycub without it reaching level 2 first (and good luck finding some way to pull that off) is an interesting spin on pseudo-legendary pokémon, as it rewards players putting in the effort so early on; I know I'd be one of the people to try and evolve my Lycub as soon as possible. Centyrant, meanwhile, is definitely a pokémon that you could build several teams around, especially with the variation between types (of which I cannot pick a favorite; they're all too good!) allowing for flexibility in your approach. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a boss/elite 4 member who just has a team of five Centyrants, one of each type.

I think something that I would take into consideration for the elemental Lynels is that BotW / AoC aren't the only zelda games to have Lynels. While I do like the idea of using stuff from AoC, I think that the Dark Lynels from ALBW should be included. Maybe as like a secret extra or something? For the record, I think the elemental flask is a genius concept that I wish I could come up with, but I just figured I'd drop my two cents. Great video btw!

Very smart idea involving the elemental variants for pokemon, that way certain pokemon could be balanced as being harder to get based on what pokemon types you can access in your current area of the game, i think it is a very smart idea that has a lot of fun potential, and could even have some lore connecting it to eevee which is basically 'the' elemental variant pokemon. Also the Lycub line is the perfect blend of awesome and cute, and i imagine the shiny form would give it's different forms stuff like the silver lynel colours, gold lynel colours, or savage lynel colours. Hello! I’ve been loving your Hyrule videos so far and have had a great time tuning in to each new one that comes out :) you make some really good quality content and some beautiful art with great concepts! Since you do seem a bit newer, I did want to give a small piece of constructive criticism for your thumbnail: the symbol for the electric type is very low contrast between the white bolt and the yellow backdrop, making it pretty hard to see (especially if you’ve got any sight/color impairment and since yellow is one of if not the hardest visible color range for the human eye to see). Since you’re using gradients already, perhaps gradienting out to a light orange would help? Keep up the great work! I look forward to more videos in the future :)

I've always loved split evolution lines so the idea of getting to chose what design you want is awesome, also I can imagine it could help with type balance in a party. And don't even get me started on all the cool pokemon being in the late game. I understand why but I always end up catching a full team before I get to them and by the time I'm in their spawn areas I'm too attached to my team to change anything

When I first heard about your idea for different forms of certain pokemon but with different types, I immediately thought of Oricorio. But your idea is so much more fun to think about how it would work during actual gameplay. The Malice-Centyrant and Ice-Centyrant are my favourite of the two, though the others are all pretty close to levelling the playing field… Like how Eevee has 8 different things it can evolve into, is Centyrant going to get additional forms (Eg: Blue-Mane, Black-Mane, White-Mane, Gold-Mane (all from BotW)) later down the line? Looking forward to the next bit of news for this idea.

These are all great, I especially like the first stage. I have some critique though. The perspective on the bottle looks off like its bending away from the viewer. The mechanic is a good but it could be simpler. Like it doesn't need to take away exp, because now that exp would be lost if you take the bottle away and if you want to prevent it from evolving you just press B assuming other common features carry over into this. Centyrant looks cool its left arm also looks kinda flat though and the fur on the elbow almost connects with the tail. Still, excellent work, keep it up!

Really like the Lycub evolution method, it's really unique! I always liked outside the box evolution gimmicks. Though would there be a way to keep track of the "completion" anywhere? (an item, a unique Lycub-specific sub-menu, a NPC telling you when you show them a Lycub). Though having it more opaque would add a sense of old-school mystery, plus there aren't that many zones (10) so it wouldn't take that long to track one opponent of each group by doing some investigation on the Pokedex and then fast-travel there (since you can visit each zone a Fly-equivalent would likely be available by that point, plus the shrine teleportation if you kept the BotW mechanic). Sorry for rambling again, I'm a game design nerd and your game is so original and poses so many interesting design challenges (in a good way I mean, like puzzles). Keep up the good work! Can't wait for the ChuChu line with your new type-divergence mechanic. 🍮

Hey, I thought that a fankit might be a good idea. As a new video would go out, you could add whatever new art (new mon, items, etc.) from the video to the fankit.

It's basically a resource that creators make so other people can use their work as a resource@@bilsuart. There most commonly done through google docs. Ex: Vdrive.google.com/drive/folders/10yQI-_FSnhMhXfE_ty5rwP3cOXBYUaRD

I like the concept and the idea that they also look different based on the environment they are found in like how Lynels in Botw live in different places all over Hyrule

I think that you’d also want to include some way of tracking the enemies you’ve had Lycub fight to evolve it. I could see it being a Key Item. NPC after being shown a Lycub: “Ah! I see you have a Lycub as a partner. They’re quite challenging, but can become a powerful teammate under proper care. The Lycub evolves when it fights every Pokémon in the Hyrule Fields. But it must defeat at least one of each. Take this. It will help you to keep track of your Lycub’s progress.” _Obtained Battle Notebook_ The Battle Notebook will automatically have its blanks filled with any Hyrule Field entries you’ve encountered. Any battle your Lycub wins will check off that entry in the Battle Notebook. Once all entries are full, you’ll get the signal that Lycub can evolve. I imagine it will work like _Legends Arceus,_ where you choose to evolve at will.

Initially when this was being described, i thought the need for the all the different areas for the evolution was going to tie into the final evolution. I really like the way the elemental flack but was wondering if the requirement to be in every area at least once was going to be something shared by other pokemon that are also meant to be extremely tough, with the overlap of elemental variend potentially being slimmer

First off, amazing idea. This actually introduces a good mechanic that everyone will utilize and has a lot of flexibility to suit whatever your team needs. I have one critique for the lynel though, personally, I believe that the evolution requirements should be switched. The Lycub should evolve at maybe around level 20 or 30, however you think will be best for balancing. And then Champleon should have the “kill all field Pokémon” requirement to evolve. That way, it will feel special and unique when your Champleon evolves. Furthermore, it suits the “king of the fields” title. How I see it, if you change this then the evolution will be a lot more poetic. Only the champion of Hyrule Fields that is capable of displaying their strength in combat to everyone in Hyrule Fielss can become the tyrant of Hyrule Fields. Hence Champleon becoming Centyrant. Also, because of level requirements rising exponentially, it’s much more likely for a player to try to reserve their Lycub and not use it so that to obtain a Centyrant, they only have to reach level 46 instead of a much more difficult level 76.

What would happen if the one holding the flask defeats pokémon of different types? I really like the idea of getting this super strong pokémon being an investment you could spend a lot of time and planning on right from the start and all the way through, almost like Lycub is your own pet protagonist. There could even be small but dangerous areas optimized for flask-filling, that could in fact be in-universe training grounds for Champleons (you might have to fight one to gain access). Though personally, I would suggest that evolving Lycub should require a bit less "collecting", perhaps defeating one of the apex predator in each region instead (no need to prove your dominance over every bug and rodent).

And since you pick the type from the start of equipping the item, as long as it has one of the types it’ll be okay.
