@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Karito. Great question! The 8th dimension of BIM is the least explored and does not have a full software package yet. However, the IFC file extracted from BIM applications has the ability to be imported into various tools such as IES Simulex for occupant movement and evacuation analysis. We can expect to see more advancements in 8D in the coming years. Also, some applications like BIM360 have risk and health and safety inputs.

@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the interesting question. You are 100% right. Even if you consider prefabrication, it is not only 4D. It can appear on almost all dimensions depending on how you look at it. Similarly, logistics has a very wide meaning. Time and cost are both incorporated into logistics. It is not only time but also the combination of time, cost and more dimensions.

What is BIM for Economy Circle for Project Management?
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Fluto, interesting question. As the BIM process improves productivity and reduces waste, it has a direct impact on the circular economy in the building sector. If you are interested in the subject, there are various research articles you can refer to: BIM competencies for delivering waste-efficient building projects in a circular economy www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2666165920300338 Uses of building information modelling for overcoming barriers to a circular economy: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0959652620348988

Hi Mahender. As a Civil Engineer, you will benefit from learning some relevant BIM applications. To select the most suitable software, I would recommend having a quick search on the job market to see the software requirements in your region (or your destination) and your profession (consider your career progression goals). Autodesk Revit structure can be a good option! There are so many free step-by-step tutorials on the internet. Set multiple approachable goals and go for it. Good luck!

Hi. Thank you for the detailed instruction with graphical representations of this video. However, I have a concern which is the 5D: Cost is this not going to be different by region?
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 Жыл бұрын
Hi Danial, thanks for your comment. Cost will certainly be different by region (similar to time, health and safety, building performance, etc.). In BIM process, we manage the building data related to each dimension. The inputs will be different project by project or based on location. But there are still similarities between the type of data that we need to be able to determine the cost of project. BIM is not trying to make a similar template for all projects, instead, we try to understand how different type of data can be managed and maintained throughout building's lifecycle.

Hi Sudarmani. There are various interesting mobile/tablet apps that can be used on-site for example BIM 360. BIM360 works with Revit models and can be accessed via www.autodesk.com/bim-360/. To learn BIM, it is best to first specify what BIM capabilities will be more important in your everyday job. Because the best way of learning is "learning by doing" and through involvement in a real project!

From the way it seems, these process is linear, very linear in a way that if for example you want to optimise cost only. You would have to be be optimising time before that. What if I only want to optimise building performance only (as for energy for example) I would be required to make a 6D building.. but that means I have to time and cost process as well. This turns everything to same non creative, monolithic approach. What if want to make a "safe" building? do I need to do all the previous steps in order to make a safe building? does that mean if want to do a 4D building and stick to the BIM process, I will just not prioritise the building safety? very weird structure if you ask me. Also shouldn't be safety addressed in a "building performance" category? If continue in this direction we would just have so many dimensions that are clashing onto each other or make some process divided in a manner that limits and bounds the way things get built which is not necessarily a good thing. There is not much room for creativity and flexibility in following these process.
@builtevolvechannel8870
@builtevolvechannel8870 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Seddik, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. These processes are very inter-connected and not linear really. The whole concept is to have all the building information gathered and managed in one "model" and then extract the required information throughout building's lifecycle. Building performance is actually building energy performance (this is the keyword used). Safety has its own dimension (8th) especially because it has gained more importance than ever in the building industry.
