Caterina Valente is an incredible talent. Incredible performer, huge singing range, multilingual, playing several instruments, tap dancing and on top of everything she can really do jazz (there's a great documentary of an aborted Kurt Weill record with I think the WDR Big Band on youtube). And she just walked away from the spotlight when she was tired of it and lived life on her own terms from then on. The highest respect.

I fell in love with this woman in 1955 when she was singing at the Trocadara (sp) Club in Weisbaden, Germany. A friend and I were there on pass and during the break she came and sat at our table and chatted with us. Little did I know she would become world famous. She starred in a movie Liebe, Tanz und 1000 Schlager with John Bubbles and Peter Alexander. I saw it 5 times even tho it was in German. I am now 85 years old and still in love with her.

Bing was no slouch!!!! Caterina was very talented, nice voice, talent. But Bing Crosby was possibly the most intelligent Popular Singer we've had, because he had a Classical Catholic education (of the old style--Literature, the humanities, classical history, anthropology, art appreciation and history-as well as he learned in Catholic Schooling, Greek, Latin, English and recorded in German, Italian, Spanish, French, and another I might miss, as well as sing all the genres. Both of them together, you can see they respected each other, and complemented each other exquisitely. Thank you for posting this gem!

He looked allot like Elvis; they all went to film Blue Hawaii together. Funny, I just happen to be a lover of quality music, studied classical violin, then picked up a bit of guitar from others.
