This is my first time hearing Bini and now I'm obsessed. I'm half Filipino and half Japanese and I grew up in a white neighborhood in SoCal (I see you "fake Filipino" RockM.) This is exactly what my childhood self needed back then--seeing a whole group of beautiful, talented Filipino women killing it. I'm now down the Bini rabbit hole and I can feel the healing happening every time I watch/listen to them so thank you for sharing them with us.

Back when I lived in the Phils before 2014, ABS-CBN was a TV network that aired all kinds of shows, from the evening news, noontime shows, to telenovelas. ABS-CBN, along with GMA and TV5, were *the* channels ppl went on the TV for their entertainment. The comparison to Fox isn't too far off XD Salamin both mean eyeglasses and mirror, so you're still technically right. We just figure out from context what is meant in conversation. It's like how "glass" could mean the material and the container. I'm glad you guys checked out BINI. I think you guys should watch their Rappler live performances. They really take advantage of their numbers to do vocal harmonies.

I think: Salamin - mirror Salamin, salamin - mirror mirror - they were singing about facing the mirror asking if the person they're singing about for the truth or something. Salamin - in another context is eyeglasses so the person they're singing about would see them in a romantic way.

Bini is probably some of the best pop music coming out of the Philippines, so always a pleasure to see their videos. Salamin means "mirror" or "glasses" in a similar way that glasses in English means either (eye) glasses or (drinking) glasses. English also has "glass" meaning mirror, and sometimes is called a "looking glass". "Salamin Salamin" here is likely just "Mirror, mirror", like "mirror, mirror on the wall" without any particular change in meaning.

The "If Fox news had a girl group" got me😂😂 because that is what Bini's handlers literally are since there aren't any specialized entertainment companies in the philippines like JYP,HYBE,SM etc....the closest thing we have here is the large news/television broadcasting networks which is ABS-CBN and GMA tho if being specific Bini's employers ABS-CBN has different divisions for different media aspects for movies,tv dramas,music etc.. like example for Bini they are under Star music which is ABS-CBN's division for music production and distribution

‘Salamin’ technically pertains to anything made of ‘Glass’ or ‘Mirror.’ But with ‘Eyeglasses’ the complete translation is ‘Salamin sa mata’ (Glasses for the eyes) but it is just shortened sometimes to just ‘salamin’ depending on the context of the conversation.

Love this reaction. Some Filipino pride lol. Idk if someone has already said but salamin means glass in general, so it's glasses and the glass on the wall aka a mirror, but you can say "Salamin ng kotse." which means glass of car. Now that could be vague, cause a car has both mirrors and glass windows, so you could just say bintana, which means window, or "Basag ang salamin ng bintana." which means "The glass of the window is broken", but that's redundant. "Pabrika ng salamin" sounds like paprika salmon but means factory of glass hahahaha! In most of these situations (except mirrors and glasses) people just say glass, cause of the English that gets mixed with Tagalog. Now if we are talking about a glass to drink out of it's baso... NO ONE SAYS "basong salamin" a glass glass.... no one, cause that is once again redundant and just feels weird to say. NOW if you'd say glass door you could say "Pintuan na salamin" cause you can't say "Pintuan na bintana" cause a door that is a window does not make sense...
