what about the HIL provided by machine and run for each sample? is this something different?

Liquicheck Serum Indices is not a quality control (no CE Mark or FDA clearance is required). It is a pre-analytical instrument check that is run as a test, the same as a patient sample. Prior to regular testing as a patient sample, Liquicheck Serum Indices is used to check instruments HIL interferents detection feature. Instrument performance can be tracked in the Unity Interlaboratory program to detect shifts and trends over time. Also, labs can take advantage of Unity's peer group comparisons. Liquicheck Serum Indices is recommended as an objective assessment of the instrument's response in detecting Hemolyzed, Icteric or Lipemic samples.
