Recently used these shells in a ‘steel’ only area over several days of pheasant hunting and I’m beyond impressed! The good old days of lead are back. Several birds were dropped way out past anything regular steel shells effectiveness. I’ll definitely be buying and using more. Well done BioAmmo.

There is also a 76mm (3") version of bioammo blue on the market which is a 35 gram load in shot sizes 3 or 4

Theses shells are junk they come apart in the chamber

I've used about half a box of the 27g 4's. They seem fairly punchy but I'm yet to dissect a bird and see what the shot penetration is like. I'll be using them again later this season so I'll have a look. Being a bit softer than steel, I'm apparently quite safe to use them in my spanish boxlock which is a relief and a large contributor to why I decided to try them out 🙂

Ive been using the BioAmmo steel clay loads and they've been great so far . I believe the wad is a biodegradable vegetable based substance.

Lies, I'm afraid. Bioammos are not biodegradeable, despite what they claim.

So they say, I’m running a test at the moment, I’ll put a video out with the results

I’ve used them . liked the concept unfortunately a fair percentage came apart in the chamber on ejection would not buy again.

interesting cartridge nice to see something that isn’t a 32g load and in sensible shot sizes i’ve done a lot with standard steel cartridges and will honestly say shot size 5 is enough i’d like to even try no6

Interesting, I’ve always gone for a 4 in steel

Pattern tested 5shot 28g at 35yards Muller passing choke fantastic Pattern but the wad went through 3/4" inch chip board. A duck & game cartridge may need a bit more shot after 40 yard's 30g , 32g

I agree 32g should be good

Had a slab. First season they were ok. However, second season the cases split, some the entire length. So I took one to bits ( I had done this when I first got them) the wads had become brittle too. Conclusion, buy them in small quantities and use them quickly.

I will have experience the next time I shoot as I purchased a few boxes to try. Hope they work well.

Interesting, I've been using gamebore supersteel 24 & 28 #7 1/2 on clays and find them fantastic and as good as anything else. Not tried the bio ammo equivalent yet .

I would say they are a bit too expensive for clays but good for game

i was really enhousiastic about these until i did a penetration test. at 30m most pellets bounced out of the gell, turns out the Finnish winter makes these shells useless, The plastic substitute cracks on opening at -10 and you can crumble them at -20. pattern is quite nice, recoil a bit snappier than iam used to from my usual lead loads. I may use these in late summer/early fall but for knocking down late season migrants its not an option.

Used blue on ducks and pheasant,couldn't see the difference those were 5s I've now gone to the 70mm case in 4s as I'm doing hi birds this year.
@IRateGuns Жыл бұрын
How are you getting on with the 4s?
@Brett-im2jo Жыл бұрын
@IRateGuns I'm not seeing a difference between them and lead with regards to kills so will stick with the 4s now for everything other than partridge where the 5s are better as smaller

Bioammos aren't biodegradeable to any appreciable extent. The main polymer is PLA - insignificant biodegradation rates outside of industrial composters.

Well we’ll soon find out, I’ve got some out in the garden and I’ll put out a video after 12 months, 7 weeks in and the only thing to happen is a bit of rust on the brass.
@john-davidfisher8413 Жыл бұрын
@mrsmith9079 could you update us with your evidence please. I also have some used bio blue cartridges in different positions in the garden to see what happens. They claim to breakdown in 18 months but from what I have read about PLA it could take as much as 80 years. I was very happy with my purchase but that will change if they do take 80 years to degrade. I would like to research for myself but I haven't found the info that they are PLA. I have fired a few, 28 gram number 4's through an AYA number 2 and have found them to be very effective in the field.

@@john-davidfisher8413 There's a list of their various patents on their website, if you enter the patent numbers into espacenet you'll be able to view the entire document. Their claimed polymer mix uses PLA.

That is pretty much terrible shot quality. The egg-shaped pellets will affect both patterns and penetration. The powder used is not the G2000, the G2000 is completely different with small square flakes. That one looks like one of the Hi Skor 700X (Hogdson, IMR etc) family, a lot of the American made powders look like each other pretty much impossible to say with certainty with one it is.
