Biodiversity Week 2021: Arctic Char at Lough Naback

oin Three Province Heritage as they share the fascinating story of the Arctic Char, a historic fish species that thrives in deep, cold glacial lakes. Its numbers have plummeted in Ireland in recent decades, and the Three Province Heritage Group are leading a project at Lough Naback to assess the survival of the species in this North Longford lake, and if necessary reintroduce it to help ensure its survival into the future.

Charcoal and biochar have proved to be excellent at reversing eutrophic lakes ...why hasn't anyone looked at that or encouraged farmers to add biochar to their fields around lakes ...Rush's can be turned into biochar a plant most farmers spray or mulch ...the quantity for slatted houses is 50:1 ...that's one cubic meter per fifty cubic meter tank ...Take a steel.barrel and tilt to sixty degrees to create a low emissions burn barrel.....this creates an easy biochar retort anyone can use...great video and well put together...Don't give up hope there are solutions.

I think native fish like Arctic Char, Twaite Shad and Pollán ect should all be reintroduced and spread out around the country
