I just noticed there is some sort of issue with the video at 5:19. It skips ahead about 20 seconds. Just thought I'd let you know since I don't recall it being like that before. Maybe youtube screwed it up somehow.

It is too bad this game isn't popular with speedrunners. There are probably some crazy glitches and skips that we don't know about. People who are super into speedrunning somehow can totally break a game. I'd like to see if that is possible with Bioforge.

Have you made any more attempts since you set this world record? Do you think a sub 40 is possible?

I haven't made any real attempts since. It might sound petty but a windows update (I think) broke the dosbox soundcard emulation and I can't get the music to sound the same anymore which really killed my motivation. There are definitely gains that could be made but I can't remember how much now to be able to say if sub 40 is realistic. At least with the current route/strats.

@@liquidsteak2612 Here I am back 3 years later! Have you thought about trying to do another run to lower your time or have you kind of loss interest in running Bioforge? Unless Bioforge gets popular with speedrunners and they discover some crazy glitches I think you'll keep the world record for a very long time. I might be able to get a sub 50 if I really practiced but 41:29 is a crazy good time.

Calavera stopping in again. You know what I'd really like to see with Bioforge? I'd like to see a "speedrun" from someone who has never played the game before and uses no guides or hints at all. I really enjoy this game but so much of it seems impossible to figure out on your own. It can easily be beat in under an hour now but when it was new you might play for months if not years and not figure out what to do. I'd be really interested in seeing how someone who has never played Bioforge before would fare with it. It'd be hard to do nowadays though, because you'd have to trust that the person playing has truly never looked at any walkthroughs or gameplay videos.

What is the trick from Calavera88 and Derek Stone ? I could not find it.

it's been a while ago so i might be misremembering but i think the biggest tricks from each of them are: Derek Stone pointed out the way to approach the top floor with all the drones and Calavera88 told me about skipping the fight with the alien at the tile colour matching puzzle. additionally calavera88 had previously told me about skipping the wait at the very start of the game and Derek had more accurately timed fights than i had to show that the high kick was basically always faster. I'm pretty sure I've missed some so sorry to both for not fully remembering.

@@liquidsteak2612Calavera88 here no need to apologize. I'm just happy that you mentioned me at all. I was happy to help you improve your speedrun. I got it when it first came out on my birthday and have it played it many many times over the years. It is a shame it isn't more popular with speedrunners or just retro gamers in general but I can understand why. If you are playing the game for the first time with no guide it can be pretty unforgiving (if not impossible) to figure out some areas. Some of the stuff you have to do I don't think I would have ever figured it out without a guide. Even figuring out that you can use the alien cube to float across gaps would be pretty hard to figure out. Also taking the bomb to the catwalk would be pretty tough to figure out. And you can also get yourself into a no win scenario. The worst being if you go outside the base without stabilizing the reactor. You can still do everything you need to do outside but when you try to get back to the base on the ledge that goes to the elevator by the landing pad an earthquake happens and you fall off everytime! And you wouldn't even know what you did wrong, nothing tells you that the reactor is causing that earthquake. I wonder how many people actually completed the game with no help from a guide at all?
