After watching the film Giant, I come to realize his role and film definitely had elements of future CBS Drama "Dallas". And I was right (I read that creators of Dallas had used Giant as a template). Dean's role very much reminded me of Digger Barnes
@tracyanderson37152 жыл бұрын
Sooooooo a 1950s Dallas I am sure the producers and writers completely drew on Giant for the base of that series. Jett is Digger for sure but also once striking oil a bit of JR as well. I always wondered if anyone else but me thought that. Thanks Awesome comment

Dean was gayer than a 2 dollar bill, he got caught making out with a few different other secret Hollywood gay dudes. Back when gay people were cool and didn't force feed their way of life into every conversation or teach 3 year old children about drag queens... or demand you call them plural pronouns...or destroy women's sporting records...or demand I believe that men can get pregnant.

I'm not sure what came first, but when I was in high school in the '80's, I saw Rebel, read East of Eden (then watched the film) in my American Lit class, and was really into the Eagles, who did that song Simon references on their 3rd album. I've kind of been in love with James Dean ever since.
@otaddiction2 жыл бұрын
I actually noticed that around the 80s there was a big obsession around 50s pop culture and nostalgia. A lot of craze over classic icons such as James Dean or Audrey Hepburn, shows and movies like Happy Days, MASH, Back To The Future, some big artists like Billy Joel and David Bowie taking on that classic sound, etc. Kinda funny but cool how back in the 80s people loved 50s nostalgia, and now we love 80s nostalgia haha
@M4ttNetАй бұрын
@@otaddiction Yup, it's seemingly a pattern of each generation kind of obsessing over the culture and content before them skipping a generation. I think it's the sort of idea that my parents generation were boring and old but the generation before, that was interesting etc. It keeps repeating.

Well done Simon & Co. Dean's famous line from Rebel Without A Cause, "You're tearing me apart!" has been reused in TV shows and cartoons. I don't think young kids watching the cartoon in which that line was uttered even got the reference. Oh, the cartoon was Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius. The character Carl Wheezer said the iconic Dean line, not word for word, but, I could tell where the writers got their inspiration.
@dafttool2 жыл бұрын
There’s another iconic line that I recently saw on Instagram, where James Dean is trying to prevent Sal Mineo committing suicide, trying to trade his trademark red jacket for the gun, but talks to him about whether he’s ready to come out or not. Both men were gay. James Dean was brash with it. Mineo was not, & was later murdered by a street hustler. While not intentional, the lines have taken on new meanings over the years.
