Rest in peace, Federico! I cannot tell you what your movies have meant to me. Yes, I do have favorites, but everything you touched is magical and monumental! I see in La Strada and Nights of Cabiria, the original touch of humanity you gave to your characters. I see in La Dolce Vita the kind of intellectual realism and Dantesque imagery you created out of the Rome of the 60's. The ending of La Dolce Vita knocks me out when you see the sea monster and those eyes that look alive, peering into the audience's soul as the crab scurries across the net entrapping the monster. This tells me something beyond words. At the end of the movie, it is the superimposition of the eyes of the sea monster, the eyes of the young girl beckoning to Marcello and Marcello's dead eyes as he walks off in a grand procession of death that takes this movie into a supernatural plane. What other director could possibly use the eyes to give this deep inner meaning to the movie he created. Only Fellini!

His films with Nino Rota's scores are cinematic perfection. And his wonderful beautiful spouse Giuletta Masina is a magnificent addition.

I watched an interview with Martin Scorsese in which he said he had become friends with Fellini and they met near to his death in Rome. Afterwards, Fellini called his assistant asking is Scorsese could help him as he could not get money to make a final film. He didn't ask Scorsese himself as I guess he was too embarrassed that he could not make a film because no one would back him. How incredibly sad that we never saw his last movie as no one would raise the money for him.

I am curious about the Russian subtitles. Everything about Fellini, such as his rebellion against facism & his mockery of religion, would be impossible in Russia especially today under Putin.

@Peter Kelner so do you think you're better than them? Jay z is a fcking billionaire and youre some guy commenting a hateful unecessary comment about a person's brain you don't even know about. People who say others are nobodies are ones themselves. Just played yourself

Poor, tortured ,exploited circus animals and that are eaten. Now, that I’m an ethical vegan, animal activist I realize I can enjoy very little even about Fellini, one of my favorite directors. “Armacord” is one of my favorite movies which I saw the first time in the 80’s. 🎥

Federico Fellini described who he was and how he lived in his movies and interviews. Every artist should do just that, to describe himself and his life to himself creatively, and maybe to others too, but not to please others, or to work for others. But an artist should never try to describe someone else and their lives in his art. Others should only be presented in his artworks exactly how he saw or experienced them without trying to interpret them. But an artist should always interpret himself. No one can write the true biography of an artist better than himself imprinted in and reflected from his artworks.
