Sameerji it was incorrect to blame Shankar Sahab who was treated as Guru and brotherly figure by Jaikishan ji! Bitter truth of life - none could be claimed as cause for one's disaster it's not just Jaikishanji even Shailendraji who trusted Raj kapoor for his project Teesri Kasam was disappointed to a great extent by indifferent attitude of RK and most of these celebrities reach to this decision of ending themselves because of their frustration and being over emotional! In spite of being classic philosopher the lyricist Shailendra became so depressed, certainly if he could have thought of other options to improve his finances he could have definitely and easily survived! But declaring one self as loser after getting cheated by close friends they felt to end themselves! In fact the sources also claimed that as Jaikishan's personal life was also a reason for his addiction to bad habits which can't be accepted as fact because it was past happening and doesn't really have any proof and very damaging statements for his close associates! When Shankar Jaikishan were melody makers and always remained synonyms of Success! Do you think their personal life is important for their fans if so you have to accept a fact that Raj Kapoor who was claimed as mentor for creating a team of Shankar Jaikishan Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri was, solely responsible for their end too because Raj Kapoor was a commercial in approach where SJ could give complete rights to RK for gem of their music compositions! The reason for silence of Shankar Sahab was very much misunderstood as he was very strong mentally he didn't really want to go to low level of Lata and RK who just saw, the commercial aspect of their compositions! Mrs Lakshmi Tummala whom I knew for few years is strong fan of Shankar Jaikishan's music is correct in her statement! Jaikishanji was handling all the commercial aspects of SJ team as, Shankarji knew only music and very strict in getting his work when Jaikishan's sudden death just came as shock! Please watch Shankar sahab interview on KZbin, after Jaikishan's death where one could feel his pain his speech just churn our hearts! Please understand the melodious emperors could create such great compositions only because their beautiful thoughts let us not discuss their unfortunate happenings of life instead we can enjoy their music which create enormous joy to our hearts and make us more loveable!

The monotonous and orthodox style of classical music all of sudden becomes old fashioned and new India was prepared to embrace the refreshing and breezy new sensation named shankar jaikishan with open arms. The socialism, shailendra, rajkaapur with shankar jaikishan composition were not only complimenting each other but become guarantee for success of any film . This team rajkaapur was not became very popular in newly independent India but the war torn world as well particularly in Russia lead communist block countries starting from China, cheezchaslwakia, Romania, China, Bulgaria, polland and last but not least the USSR. Every where you can listen 'awara hu' or mera joota he Japani'. And and this grand magical streak continues uptill the untimely and sad demise of jaikishan. I can safely infer my writing by saying that 'bade gaur se sun raha tha zamaana tumhi so gaye meharvaan kahte kahte'but shankar jaikishan and their creation will be remembered by one and all forever. Sameer Goswami, would like to know the basis of your statements which are erroneous. Please get your facts straight before you present them to the public. 1. Raj Kapoor wanted Shankar to compose music for his second movie, Barsaat on his father’s recommendation. But, Shankar wanted to work with Jaikishan. RK suggested to him to take Jaikishan as his assistant which was not acceptable to Shankar who wanted him to be his equal partner. RK agreed to it and the rest is history. 2. It was actually Shankar who was impressed by Lata and her to RK for Barsaat. 3. How could Lata come to the recording of a song without knowing the lyrics? 4. Shankar worked mainly with Shailendra and Jaikishan with Hasrat. 5. There never was a rift between Shankar and Jaikishan. Whatever you mentioned was the rumors you read or heard. Shankar and Jaikishan were the best of friends from the very first day they met till Jai’s untimely death. 6. The reason they worked separately was due to the high volume of work they had due to their demand. Therefore, they split the work between themselves in order to meet the deadlines. 7. The highest remuneration SJ received was five lakhs and not ten. 8. It was RK who introduced Sharda to SJ. He met her on a visit to Iran and requested SJ to give her a voice test. She was then given a break into film music. 9. Jaikishan died of cirrhosis of the liver due to excessive drinking and not because of Shankar as you wrongfully stated.

wonderful presentation no doubt. Authentic to the core and sameer had taken real pain to prepare it. By all means jaikishen was superior to shanker. After jaikishen"s untimely death everything went wrong and out of desperation shanker started churning out sub standard tunes which badly affected the reputation of the duo.Its a well known fact that.shanker could not make any landmark contribution after1971 except those songs composed for the film sanyaasi

Shankar was as good as Jaikshan..in fact in 50s Shankar's music became more popular while in 60s Jaikshan was having upper hand... don't forget SHALANDER S 99% Songs were composed by Shankar and those are the priceless gems , immortal ones....

What you say is incorrect. After Jaikishan's death, big banner producer refused to pay big amount to shanker. Their violin and orchestration consisting more than 100 musicians. Producers refused to give him this facility. After shanker was great dancer and musician expert in several instruments. Asst. To Husnlal bhagatram and then to Ram Ganguly. SJ were most popular musicians fromb1949 to 1971. They have highest no of hit songs. Lata around 500, Rafi 368, Mukesh 133, manna dey 80, Asha 230, Kishore Kumar 125, all others 300 song.
