This is the first time I'm seeing this and I am absolutely disgusted. With recent events and everything else going on, people should be caring about their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of others- not trying to hurt, harm, injure others. Who does this? To a manatee? It's downright cruel to bring animals into politics like this, marking, carving, engraving a name onto an animal's back like it's a wooden board or a billboard. I hope the person, people, and other included in on that feel ashamed for themselves and I hope that they get what they deserve. Poor manatee. I'm glad you talked about this topic because I bet any other comments or feedback given to this doesn't go as in depth or support the very importance of endangered manatees as well as you do.

I feel your disgust and anger. This news will come and go with the news cycle but it's unfortunately a trend that marine mammals are harmed regularly for the sake of social media. Many people think that animals are our property to do with how we please, so as long as this belief continues stories like this will come out. I know many of my viewers know the harm of it so I wish my videos could reach a wider audience of those who "don't see the big deal" of this.

Somewhat unrelated by my neighbors leave their dog chained up on the sidewalk(gated in at least) in Texas. Not just during summer but during December and January where temperatures reach freezing or worse. They kinds of people who abuse animals can be your neighbors and friends. They legitimately do not care about the well-being of animals.

I would call myself a moderate Republican. I prefer Trump over Biden because of my pro-life and limited government beliefs, even though I recognize that he has said/done some unwise things. However, the damage to this manatee is absolutely unacceptable. Voice your opinion [respectfully] online or at the dinner table. Leave wildlife and their habitats out of this mess. Freedom of speech is very important to me, but the line between freedom and crime is crossed when you abuse animals. Thank you for bringing this atrocity to my attention, Kristina.

The Manatee most likely enjoyed getting his/her back scratched. I grew up on the florida coast and have pet plenty of them. They'll come right up to you and want to be pet. They didn't write with algae. They rubbed algae off.
