Hi mam! I am very fond of your great explanation. Pls clear my doubt... I don't understand why these insects won't eat the fertile female stipe. How does it recognise that it's supposed to eat only the sterile one? Or does it so happen that it lives on only sterile ones? Pls let me know asap. Thanks!

actually insect lays eggs only on the sterile because style arises from the side and when the larvae hatch they start eating the sterile ones..
