Yes mitosis can occur in haploid cells..example.in algae(n) during gamete formation to form haploid gametes(n), Choromosome number doesn't change.. Meiosis can't be occured in haploid cell.. The zygote is formed by the fusion of two gametes during fertilization. While each gamete (sperm and egg) is haploid (n), meaning it has half the usual number of chromosomes, the zygote becomes diploid (2n) because it contains the combined genetic material of both the male and female gametes. This diploid zygote then undergoes cell division and development to form a new organism with a complete set of chromosomes.
