Biomedical Signals and Systems (BSS) is amongst the several specialisations within the Electrical Engineering Master's programme. In this specialisation, students learn to tackle a significant challenge in the biomedical field: the use and analysis of human body signals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Given the dynamic nature of the human body, which is markedly different from mechanical or electrical devices with their clearly defined signals, recording and interpreting bodily signals is complex. Students will master techniques for extracting information from these systems and analysing the signals using machine learning and artificial intelligence, among other methods. Consequently, graduates are well-equipped to contribute to the biomedical engineering field in various ways, such as developing neural prostheses for studying brain function or creating wearable devices to enhance the treatment of patients under remote supervision.
Interested in Electrical Engineering, but is this specialisation not exactly what you are looking for?
