Ph.D. Fiber and Polymer Science student Karuna Nambi Gowri is developing barbed sutures that are easier to manufacture and customize. Through her work with the Biomedical Textiles Lab at NC State University's Wilson College of Textiles, she's also gained hands-on experience manufacturing specialized barbed sutures for the founder of these wound closures, Dr. Gregory Ruff.
