Biomorphic vessel inspired by ancient ceramic tradition.

In this assignment, students choose an ancient ceramic tradition and select a vessel from that tradition that has a biomorphic (animal or human) form. The presentation offers examples of face jugs invented by slaves in the 1850s, ancient ceramics from Central America, China, Egypt, Iran, and more. Students will use the vessel example they choose as a starting point for their own ceramic vessel that emulates the chosen work of art.
