There is reggae. Then there is roots. This is advanced roots. One of the reasons, this most capable of men is highly revered in rootical circles. He was not super talented, either in voice or in played instrument, but he was super dedicated to his art. His forte was not in melody, but he was a master of harmonic arrangement, able to weave together discordant tunes into a harmonic whole, greater than its separate parts. Above all he was a man of strong convictions, able and willing to flow against the prevailing current among his fellow rastafari without losing their respect. Respectfully, they called him the Jesus Dread because of his dedication and acknowledgement of Jah Jah Jesus Christus as the Messiah. Here he sings about the Crucifiction in 'I-rusalem' (an expression, I n I use with thanks to his one-time protege, the late great Trinity Jr Brammer ). Another formidable one-time protege of his was the late great Michael Prophet Rest in Jah Jah Jesus Christus, the late great and legendary Yabby You, a.k.a. Vivian Jackson, a.k.a. the Jesus Dread.
