Wow, have we gone full circle already, that we're covering the movies again? Time flies man.

There were rumors that Lego at one time had plans for it but according to Wikipedia Miramax stopped doing kids movies after Web of Shadows.

bit of a correction: Hapka wrote the first three novels AND the movie novelization. Greg's first book was tales of the masks. also, according to your interview with the producers/directors of the mirimax trilogy, the movies stopped because the web of shadows DVD didn't sell well. they also mentioned LEGO potentially wanting to move away from media stuff around that time to focus more on regaining their market share in the toy industry.

I recall something about this being mentioned during that interview. However we did actually recieve new information regarding this from duckbricks recent visit to Christian Faber and he flat out said(Paraphrasing here) 'Yee, no their plans were no good, they wanted to do a huge battle in metru nui and not really explore the robot further so we decided on not renewing our contract with them.' Which is a lot more in line with what Eljay talks about in this podcast. This don't mean that what the producers said were false just that its told from different perspectives.

@@ThatTarkur faber never specified when that conversation took place or what studio that conversation was had with though (to my knowledge at least). unless we know for a fact that he was talking about creative capers circa 2005 I don't think that really ties into why the mirimax movies stopped.

@@PlasticToa I'm willing to bet that its about miramax based on two things the context of duckbricks question as this was a response to said question and that miramax have talked about their plans for a 4th movie in the nak&jay interview where a pretty similar story idea of this huge battle was conceptualized

I guess this is as fitting of a video to ask it on.. in light of it being the 20th anniversary of Mask of Light, I found it odd that the official soundtrack has disappeared from iTunes and I believe Spotify. Does anyone know what happened with that? LoMN and Web of Shadows soundtracks are still available though

I was there! Except I wasn't. I only caught the end of it. Happy to see what I missed!

"Are you going to tell me the Miramax style looks better than Journey To One?" Yes in fact. JTO's models were inoffensive, but something about the look of it rubbed me the wrong way somehow

trans takua? this was 12 years removed from the start of the identity crusade zeitgeist. There is 0% that this is a parallel.

Fr, it’s like nobody has ever heard of the hero’s journey. Luke Skywalker has to accept his heritage to become a jedi? Must be a queer allegory

@@N8-PTIn Star Wars Luke doesn’t physically transform into a larger, more powerful version of himself once Obi Wan dies, and he certainly doesn’t change his identity beyond abandoning his life as a farm boy, and from the beginning of the movie he is already keen to leave and join his friend Biggs in the Rebellion. Once his Aunt and Uncle are murdered by the Empire, that’s the final push that Luke needs to try and become a Jedi and stop them; he is freed from the responsibility of looking after the homestead because there is no more homestead. Whereas Takua’s journey was about becoming more responsible and taking charge in his own story rather than goofing off and documenting everyone else’s stories or trying to pass on his responsibility onto his best friend. I think a more relevant comparison would be Neo in the Matrix (Where the creators themselves also turned out to be trans, and they originally wanted one of the side characters, Switch, to be female inside the Matrix and male outside the Matrix, but Warner Brothers wanted to save money on casting so threw this idea out, so Switch ended being somewhat androgynous in the finished film) where Agent Smith attempts to deadname Neo as “Mr. Anderson”, which is something Makuta also does with Takanuva by referring to him as “At heart, you are still just Takua”. I think it’s an interesting reading, and viewers can take it or leave it; if they get something out of it then I don’t see the harm.
