(it was actually originally planned for ahkmou to be bitten by a shadow leech, becoing a shadow matoran and then be turned into a toa of shadow, but this was scrapped and replaced by takanuva being bitten and partially turned. the leech that bit him wasn't taken there for him...)

Jokes aside, it'd be legitimately horrifying if the reason *_why_* Ahkmou was such an infamous "Judas metaphor" in the franchise was due to some kind of unintended permanent effects of a Staff of Loyalty... Those three Ga-Matoran made the fatal mistake of vacating their seats when Ahkmou sat next to them in the colosseum. Whenever I watch this videos I can't help but wonder if it would be possible to nowdays make a Metru nui OG with original style. I'm not too deep on the lore so I haven't come up with the details of the story, but I imagine it as a mystery focused story where a matoran has to look up their kidanapped friends and starts uncovering the Vahki conspiracy only to end up with their memory erased at the end of the game.
