So the Miranda rights thing; when anyone voluntarily comes to do an interview/interrogation and they believe they're innocent, or aren't directly planning to charge them, they don't generally mirandize them, because they don't have to. So the fact that they immediately read them to her speaks volumes
@sophiedash40266 ай бұрын
Incorrect. There are 2 requirements for giving the Miranda warning. 1. In custody. 2. Interrogation. So you are correct that if it is voluntary, Miranda isn't required. However, if the police have arrested you and want to question you, Miranda is triggered.

She just continues to talk herself into a 💀 sentence. If she was half as smart as she thinks she is, she would have got a lawyer and not spoke to the cops. Mitigating circumstances of prior domestic abuse and her being blacked out drunk, she could have easily got a plea deal for 10-15. She deserves life. This trial is going to be a circus! Especially now she has to represent herself
@sparco956 Жыл бұрын
She really thinks her intent in the most important thing. It would still be a charge of homicide, it just would either be upgraded or downgraded to first degree or third degree and honestly she's screwed either way. My ex abused me for years and when I finally got the nerve to leave, she attempted to murder me multiple times, ultimately running me over with her car at a crosswalk randomly after 2 years of me cutting contact. The cops charged me...and I had to go thrpugh the corrupt legal sysyem alone, no lawyer, and i am disabled and autisitc, among other things. I am permanently physically disablwd from her abuse and murder attempts and cops did nothing but come after me bwcsuse i kicked a garbagw can after she jumped me. Just because i refused to talk to police and place charges on her, she lied and had me arrested so she qpuld get to keep our place that both our names were on the lease. I stopped dating, I dont trust people...especially cops and everyone involved in the legal system. In fact, I have pretty much abandoned society altogether. People suck, the law is corrupt. Abused men have zero avenue for recovery. I have been abused since i was born and no one has ever done a damn thing.

I’ve heard people criticize Chelsea Koepsel (the female detective) for just going straight in at Sarah without the usual “techniques,” but imo this was the right call. Sarah was/is used to talking people in circles, to manipulating. People often just give up and give Sarah her way because it’s not worth the argument. Chelsea (and Scott) figuratively backed her into a corner and it made her say a lot of incriminating things. Without the video and Sarah’s own words a conviction probably wouldn’t have happened (at least not a 2nd degree M conviction). So they took the right approach to get the right outcome (imo).
