I think pig confused satute of limitations and cold case. There is no limit for murder in the US. It could be 50 years and they can press charges. Just because a case is cold doesn't mean they actively have man power on it.

I feel like a lot of ransom kidnappings would end in the victim being murdered, because the suspect would be caught very easily otherwise.. That being said.. ransom kidnappings are stupid af, cause how on earth would u expect to get away with that.. I wonder how many ransom kidnappings actually "successfully" work, where the victim is unharmed and the suspect got what they wanted

There should be no statute of limitations, imo. If they find out who did it, regardless how much time has gone by, that person should be punished to the fullest extent for their crime.

In America I don't think there is a statute of limitations on killing, statute of limitations means that the case can't be tried this applies to lesser crimes and in some places sexual assault. But murder has no statute of limitations in most places because if new information comes to light it can then be tried in a court of law and can get convictions which wouldn't apply if it had a statute of limitation. If there is no information the case can run cold but cold cases can be reinvestigated, i don't think its much to do with man power as it is lack of any evidence or liable suspects.
