I noticed the malet doesn’t come in the box. I think this is a great idea but I think it would be even better if you could choose your 2 colors. I wouldn’t really use the blue or orange

Thank you so much for this. I've been trying to find a beginner kit etc to get started and see if it's something I'd be any good at before making a huge investment etc. I'm really wanting to make biothane tag collars, maybe even with crystals and stuff someday.

What size rivets do you use?
@BioThaneCoatedWebbing3 жыл бұрын
Hi Drake, it depends on how thick the Biothane you are using.. Take a look at this reference: Super Heavy (thickness) 6/16" Standard 4/16" or 5/16" High Flex 4/16" Also use 4/16" if not doubling (adding name plates etc.) I hope this helps and thank you!

This material sucks It delaminates in a year
@BioThaneCoatedWebbing4 ай бұрын
Hi, what material did you purchase? Did you contact your distributor to let them know about the delamination? BioThane should not be delaminating, so please contact scott@biothane.us to provide him the details so we can have our quality department look into this.

How do you know how long to make the biothane?
@BioThaneCoatedWebbing3 жыл бұрын
Great question Jaiden. For dog collars, you can cut the Biothane to assume an extra 4 to 5 inches of material. So for an 18' long collar, you should cut a length of 22 to 23" long end to end. This will allow enough material to fold over the D Ring and rivets. I hope this helps!

I'm so glad I found this video!! I couldn't find any tutorials for making biothane collars anywhere. Is there anything specific that needs to be done to seal the cut ends, or are they just supposed to be left as is with the webbing exposed?
@BioThaneCoatedWebbing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tonee, Thank you for the comment!! You do not need to seal the ends. The most important thing to do is keep your punches clean and sharp! This will make a clean cut and it will look nice without the loose fibers. Always use the yellow block to cut on and take care of your punches to maintain the sharpness!

I want to use heat transfer vinyl on the biotane. 315degF for 15 seconds, will this spoil the biothane?
@BioThaneCoatedWebbing2 жыл бұрын
This takes trial and error... 15 seconds may be way too long depending on your temp.. Start with a lower temp around 200F and go up from there.. I hope this helps and let me know how you did!

Would double cap rivets set with a press be strong enough for dog leashes? I am worried about them separating.

Yes, rivets can be strong enough for dog leashes. Sewing is a good option too! If you have any additional questions, please email scott@biothane.us!
