"There's no point in asking because he doesn't row." "He doesn't row?" "No, he *doesn't* row." Look at you, Irrational, shoving late-game plot points into literally the first set of dialogue.

@Likethelegos 10 жыл бұрын
leeardamer **SPOILER ALERT** Basically, it's the Lutece twins rowing you to the lighthouse at the beginning of the game (you realize that later on), they're alluding to the fact that, since they have the ability to travel through other dimensions and time, they have already been ahead of that moment (in the boat) and know that Booker doesn't help to row. The key to this moment is realizing the difference in inflection between "He doesn't ROW?" and "No, he DOESN'T row."

I'm on my first playthrough after abandoning it halfway a year ago. There's a lot of dumbing down to the Call of Duty style of FPS gameplay with minimal exploration and generic cover-oriented shooting (there's a reason CoD games have very short SP campaigns; you can't stretch that boring shit to 10+ hours). There's very little of the emergent gameplay of the first two Bioshocks that would have you analyzing the environment for advantages like hackable security, water/oil spills, and explosive objects to throw with TELEKINESIS.
@SporeDemigod

The most common argument I've heard is that it's a good game, just not a good Bioshock game. I would have to agree with that. Infinite is a beautiful game, it had an incredible world to explore and (at least I thought so) a great story. The gameplay needed some tweaking though, as it was "shoot a bunch of guys" then "walk to the next setpiece" then "get a bit of the story", and repeat.

jajajajaj this men, you thing that this game isn´t master peace ??? this game, the characters, the history, the art design, this history, the dlc´s and the biosock 1 make one of the best stories in the game history. But obviously if you only play games like the last of us or god of war you don't going to like the biosock games, Last of us and other games are more simple to understand for that i think that you don't like the biosck games.

Story: mediocre. Trying to look smarter than it is but inevitably failing into timespace paradoxes and contradicting itself and previous games as a result. Character deisgn: Booker is a default shooter male character, a tough guy just old enough to have some dark past we can adress to but not old enough but be unappealing to gamer bros, Elizabeth is damn near perfection untill she get's that bitch attitude in Burial at Sea DLCs. OST: not as good as previous games. Art style: not bad. Atmosphere: quite good. Gameplay: horrible. So no it's not.

I genuinely do not understand why this game gets so much hate and criticism? Maybe since I have been playing video games going on 16+ years, that I have learned to appreciate games like this more. I am also an individual whom falls in love with deep emotional stories done correctly (which this is!), so i'm sure that factors in to my opinion. The characters, music, story, and artwork were so overwhelming to me at times, that I did not even notice any of the game play "problems" this game gets criticized with. This was one of those games where when it ended, I set down the controller, and wished I could erase my memory and go back and play it again. Those little moments in the game, when you first see Columbia, or when you walk through the church at the beginning, really tugged at my heart strings. The only other games that I think have done that are TLOU, MGS, and Zelda.

I agree with you completely. I think a lot of people expect games to just be fun and exciting purely from a game play perspective as that's fundamentally what they're supposed to do. In the past 15 odd years there have been games that have tried to bridge the gap between video games and cinema, like MGS and The Last of Us but I've heard people say that TLoU especially has poor game play mechanics, therefore it's a poor game. I can completely look past this though. If a game speaks to me on an emotional level and has a story that carries weight, something that'll stick with me for a very long time, like Bioshock and TLoU both have, then I'll take that over game play any day. As a story telling medium, video games will always have the upper hand over cinema because of the level of interactivity required. You can immerse yourself in the content so much more than just being a passive viewer. I love this about games and I don't understand why people ONLY care about game play mechanics, graphics etc, when it's only really the story and characters that has the chance to affect you on an emotional level. I don't see why so many people have a problem when developers try and make a game artistic because we've seen with games like Bioshock and the games you've mentioned that incredible experiences can be created when more artistic expression goes into the overall production of the game. I just wish there were more because I've never played a game like Bioshock Infinite, it really blew me away.

My understanding is that this is a critically acclaimed game, and with good reason. Most of those who criticize this game in a severely negative manner are not professional critics. Professional critics mostly agree that while lacking in gameplay, it is superb in narration, its OST, and art design, and engages the player well in its story and theme on a deep emotional level.

eric j Never played Dishonoured but I've heard good things. Won't get the chance to now though, unless they port it to next gen which I doubt they will! Hopefully there'll be a lot more story driven / artistic games coming this year.

I think they want to help Booker because he is quite vigilant, then hiring him to hunt down and bring her back. The Luteces help him throughout so she, 'Beth, can find her power to navigate and move through dimensions. That way, like in the DLC, confronts with different Dewitts thorught the muliverse. I don't know, just a thought.

As a gamer who's been infatuated with video games for the past 25 years, this is the first game in over a decade that truly made me feel something indescribable with words. Its been since my teen years when I was ridiculed and despised by classmates and regularly sought solace in video games for meaning that I have declared a video game as my all-time favorite, but now this game has surpassed anything I've played before. I can easily say that in playing video games since the late 80s, this is definitely my all time favorite video game ever made. A perfect blend of incredible game play, suburb elements of immersive plot, magnanimous character development, an amazing and unique soundtrack and by far the greatest ending in video game history make it the perfect video game to date.

I don't see why we have to rate which Bioshock is better. Both are top-notch games that do far more than any other (discussing exceptionalism, objectivism, hypocrisy, racism, quantum mechanics, ethics, religion, etc), and I don't understand why we can't just like both. Video games are art, and you can't discredit a game with this strong of meaning simply because you don't like the gameplay.

I think my favorite piece is Elizabeth. Like her character, there is something wonderful and terrifying that hangs in each note. It is both somber and joyful, and as players who know the story, it perfectly fits the sad, dangerous, and curious reconnection between Booker and his daughter. It is a perfect break from the insanity that is the rest of the game, as the Songbird snaps you back to the reality of the situation.

I think the reason why this game interested me so much, is that they actually made an interesting female character. She was caring, but interesting at the same time. An enigma. Plus, Booker was also an enigma. I was so confused, but confused in a good way. They gave me the answers, and I didn't fully understand. I had to think on it for a long while, and that's what draws me in to a video game. The sheer impact of the ending was just..awesome. I still love the first BioShock, but Infinite was almost on par with it.

Hearing that song in the church at the beginning nearly had me in tears, the fair was amazing and made me think I was in for GAME OF THE FUCKING YEAR......and then I got into the first firefight areas....and it's the same copy paste enemies over and over....all throughout the rest of the game as well......damn did that sucked major balls.

i miss when games were singleplayer oriented before they were multiplayer because back then devs would focus on making the game an experience instead of a competition. Everything was so stylized and clean and all the gameplay was so expansive without the limits of needing an insane amount of balance of skills and weapons in order to be good. It was just simple clean combat and original style

Finally got around to opening it end of 2021 and didn't realize I installed Infinite first. I said screw it I will play infinite first as I played some of the first Bioshock when it first came out. I am so glad I did because it is easily the best game I have ever played. From the gameplay to the story all the way to this amazing sound track. Rabbitgirl57 You seem to have this stupid notion that I dislike the songs. I like the songs BECAUSE they give me that creepy feeling, and it's down to the impressive art and music direction of the game. You are judging me without knowing me, and that's a sign of a bad person. And what does that mean, 'get your priorities straightened out'? What priorities? Stop talking out of your arse. Oh and ***** you know your ARE forcefully baptised in the game? That is what adds to the creepiness. In fact you're baptised twice, and in the last one you are killed.

***** You're a hypocrite because you lecture me about respect when religion is the most disrespectful idea in the world for human dignity and decency. Also, it seems you've happily glossed over all my other points on religion, you know, about how it creates divides between people and indoctrinates people to stop believing in science. You know, glossing over factual points is something religion likes to do as well....funny that.
