The funny thing is, as you advance the game, the music starts getting a more sinister tone. Thats because you relate different emotions to it. I remember entering Columbia and hearing this, I tought it was an happy music. Then, by the end of the game I almost got depressed hearing this, or scared..

"My debts were many. My options were few." "All I had were questions. But questions get you killed." "They had my scent. If I didn't get to the girl soon, this whole job was scotched." "Comstock knew I was coming. Who told him? Them that sent me here? If so, what's their real game?" "It didn't seem like a place to hold a young girl…what were these people so afraid of?" "I've been told to tell the girl whatever she wants to hear, so long as she comes along." "They think the girl as something out of prophecy. Folks'll die for their beliefs. Or kill." "Slate. Man's always been half a fool, half a hero. Never could tell which side was more dangerous." "Turns out, the girl's no fool. And I'd prefer not to fall on the wrong side of her temper." "I don't trust Fitzroy to honor our deal. Rich, poor -- A welsher's a welsher." "Hard to believe a Chinaman like Chen Lin could come to own his own shop. Man must have friends…" "Elizabeth's got real feeling for the folks in Shantytown. Feelings like enough to get her killed." "The Bull House reminded me of the Pinkerton offices. Hard-looking building, hard-looking men." "Fitzroy's looking for blood. One thing's for sure…Fink and her won't both be seeing the sunrise." "Fitzroy's done. Would have been better if it were my hand that done it." "The bird and Elizabeth have some kind of connection. If I could put him down, would she let me?" "Maybe the girl thought putting down Fitzroy would end it. But there's more where she came from." "The Prophet's Bank loomed over the city like a golden calf. What's he charge for a pair of wings?" "There's a debt I owe the girl, and if it means paying her and not the man in New York, so be it." "Comstock did more than torture her. He's turning her into…into him. That's not going to happen." "What is this place she's brought me to? A sea of doors, with no way out."

Bruh Its 2021 and I keep coming back to Solace. Props to Duncan Watt for making it sound so nostalgic and old sounding. Words cannot describe the emotions you feel listening to this BOP. Somebody needs to make a 10 hour version of this so that I can feel perpetually in a loading screen away from the death and sorrow that is about to pursue in the day to day struggles of life. I wish that there was more nostalgia in video games these days.

Tyler Dean One or two of the songs were good... the rest were just kind of forgettable. I like this game for it's gameplay, level design, characters, and story, but it's music was always the weakest part for me. It's just so bland and uninspired (except for this and Elizabeth's Theme, and maybe the Unbroken Circle song, which I don't really count since it's existed LONG before video games were even a glimmer in a madman inventors eye).

I've been getting telemarketer/robocalls that just play Scott Joplin's "Solace", like the whole song on repeat until it randomly will cut off. I totally forgot that this was in this game and mainly recognized it because I was a huge nerd for ragtime and Scott Joplin as a kid, and his music is what got me into playing piano. I would let the call go on until the music and call stopped. I think I actually have a recording of one of the calls still. When looking up the number, I found it's supposed to be a debt collector, but there's no comment on who they are or where they're located. When I tried to call the number it wasn't in service, but then they called again; just Solace. This happened to come across my feed and now I'm remembering it was in the game and now I have more questions than answers... just like when I played the game. 😅

The way this song hits differently by the end reminds me of The Caretaker. The more time progresses, the lines become blurred and the fates feel less clear. Like one big downward spiral. A fun downward spiral but a downward spiral nonetheless.

The only reason why I wish it took longer to load the game is because of this song. It is both a blessing and a curse to have quick loading time.

The load time is so fast for me I don't get to hear more than around 8 seconds of it. *the only problem with being faster than light is that you can only live in darkness*

I wonder what it would be like to travel back 120 years or so and see how the world was like back then, and see how music culture was back then as well, perhaps even listen to Joplin himself! 😀 Seemed like such an influential time in all genres.

When i listen to this i picture myself in a 1920s bar playing poker with a cigar in my mouth and a fine woman to the side of me asking me what i want from the bar everyone happy on a walm night in the city with the pianist controlling the mood in the room and then as the song is into the 3rd half i imagine me leavin the bar with loads of money and taking walk down to see the great nightlife with my woman to the side of me having a great laugh onto our hotel😉1920s man would of been a time to be alive lucky whoever was.A peaceful and great times it was 👌

Maybe for a moment, a day in the 1920s would be fine. However, 1920 was a period of widespread poverty and suffering. After all, WW1 had just ended. Hostility in the East began brewing, as WW2 was about to begin! So, not really a fine time at all. Not to mention the lack of human rights where women were mistreated, racism, etc.

Considering the fact that all the songs in the game were chosen for their lyrical meanings, I wouldn’t be surprised if they chose deliberately to use a piece by a black musician in a game where racism is a prevalent theme. EDIT: It makes sense if you’ve seen the film ‘Green Book’.
