I read somewhere that the songbird was another booker dewitt, I guess that could explain why it bonded with her, and the way it's so protective over her, but that's all I can really recall from reading it, as seen with the prototype of the songbird it DOES have a...breathing device of some sort, so it needs air, that shows it is not entirely "robotic" as the other machines in columbia.

You make those lore videos so well, I drop everything and watch them as soon as I see they're uploaded. They really help me appreciate the games a lot more, and makes me want to play through again. Also, even though you said you like bioshock infinite the least of the three, you must admit that it's still an incredible game!

Michael Stieger I'm suppperrr grateful you DIG (aha, punning) these videos. Because of the amount of work that goes into making one, I don't know if I'd still be doing this if I didn't have the fan base that I do. I probably would have stopped with SOMA, but you all make me want to do more. Plus, I try to do lore videos that I myself would like to watch, so it's validating to know others feel the same way. And sorry Michael, Infinite is just good imo. I could look past the stripped-down gameplay if I loved the narrative, but to me, it's like two stories crammed in one, neither of which are as developed as I'd like them to be. I know you love it; I can't take that away from you, and I wouldn't if I could. I just think this one of those "agree to disagree" moments. - V

TY so much for making these Bioshock lore videos. It is one of my fav best written stories in video game format. I didnt play the games, i just watched the game movies, but i also watched many analisys videos and commentaries like these here. I dont always have time to play games so many times i just watch the ones that have good stories. I became a fan of the Bioshock universe (multiverse) instantly. :) You have a great podcasting voice and so i will probably watch most of your videos. Great job!

38:00 Oh, God. I always thought the Little Sister/Big Daddy relationship was actually kind of sweet. Even if it was in a mad, insane way, the two really do care for each other. It's always sad to see a sister desperately trying to get "Daddy" to stand up again...... especially considering the fate undoubtedly awaiting her. Come to think of it, that's a pretty good parallel for Booker/Elizabeth to Delta/Elenor as well. Booker's a relatively decent guy with a VERY dark past and a tendency to mow down people like a lawnmower through grass if they harm his little girl.

Man, Songbird's death gutted me, he was just being a good boy. Booker's death (the one we know) seemed pointless. Knowing what he knows now, he'd never allow things to happen the way they did. Did he really allow those Elizabeth's to drown him?
@mancamiatipoola11 ай бұрын
The writers wanted to kill both main characters because they knew this was the end of the series and they wanted to write a nice interesting conclusion to the stories of all characters. I think they knew this was gonna be the last game and they used all they had on it, wrapping up the story at the end. I appreciate them anyway and i think these Bioshock games are some of the best written games ever. Dont be upset with the writers that they ended characters tragically, be happy that we got an amazing video game multiverse.

An incredible lore video. One of your best so far. It seems as if, no matter how much I look at this game, I learn something new every time I play or read about it. There are things I do need to mention, as they are mistakes you made. The device that was implanted in Older-Elizabeth (the one from the future timeline), was actually not a miniature version of the Siphon. It was instead a device that would send a electric shock directly down the spine whenever she used her powers, causing intense pain. The device, as far as I can tell, was also never removed. The Siphon was disabled, leading to Older Elizabeth having the cross-dimmensional travel and power we see her have, being able to bring Booker from one timeline to another very different one, but the device was never removed. As far as I am aware, the surgery that put it in is permanent. This means that when Older Elizabeth sends us there, and sends us back, she would have to go through that shock, possibly leading to why she mentions "It took all my strength to bring you here." The second mistake was in relation to the "Inmates" that can be found in the future-version of Comstock House. You mention that Comstock House, after Fitzroy's escape, was turned into a rehabilitation center, where things like torture, mental conditioning, and other things would be used to convert citizens over to the Founder's side. There is one other thing, mostly in relation to the "Lunatics" that are found throughout Comstock House during our visit there. One of the methods that was used at Comstock House to "convert" patients was Elizabeth's powers. Once Elizabeth was... turned to Comstock's side she would be used to assist, mostly by using her Tear abilities to forcibly expose the patient to every possible version of themselves. This would cause them to go insane, which would... help with the rest of the "treatment." This is also how the Boys of Silence (The watchman found within Comstock House) are able to bring MANY more Lunatics into Comstock House then is initially seen. There is a voxophone found within Comstock House by Elizabeth "Tomorrow, the leash comes off, because all of this...has to end. But even if I destroy the Siphon, will I be strong enough to see all the doors, and open whichever I choose? And if I bring him here, who is to say that he would be any match for the monsters I have created?" I also find it interesting you didn't mention the fact that the attack on New York happens at Midnight on New Years Eve, 1984. Considering there are TWO major parallels here. The first is the attack on the Kashmir Restaurant in Bioshock 1 would also happen on New Years Eve, and also the year of the attack on New York, 1984, happens to be a reference to George Orwell's 1984, which was a serious influence for Bioshock Infinite's Columbia. Sorry for the long comment.
@GameologicalDig7 жыл бұрын
Agenta 1999 No worries about the long comment. I've come to just know your replies are gonna be long. About the lunatics, where in game does it say that Elizabeth forced them to see every extra-dimensional version of themselves? It sounds cool, but I don't recall any text or background detail saying that.
@Agenta-df3gb7 жыл бұрын
"I am here to finish my father's work. As he baptized me with water, I shall baptize the Sodom Below with fire...and prepare for the coming of the Lord. Are we worth saving if we will not save ourselves? There will be no salvation until fire floods the cities and covers the plains. Once this world has been born again, a million others wait their turn. Baptism is the rebirth of the spirit...but sometimes the mind gets in the way. If the mind will not yield, then you must expose the mind to every version of itself. Either the mind will yield, or be reduced to a blank." This is said by Older-Elizabeth on the PA System somewhat before Booker reaches the Wardens Office. That dialogue, combined with the above quote "And if I bring him here, who is to say that he would be any match for the monsters I have created?" are the main parts of this. It's never directly confirmed in game, so it's mostly speculation, but it would explain why the Lunatics in Comstock House have the same tear-effect around them as Chen Lin or the 2 soldiers in Finkton. I have found no explanation for how the Boys of Silence themselves work though, so we can only guess, though based on Tears and what we know, I'm guessing they have some form of Tear-manipulation, but there is nothing to support this. If you want to know where I get my quotes, this gamefaq has all the dialogue from the whole game. www.gamefaqs.com/pc/605053-bioshock-infinite/faqs/69191 Also, yeah. Especially in terms of this franchise I type a lot.

Thank you for all your awesome videos about the BioShock lore. I only played Infinite once when it was released and I was disappointed even when the various arcs and storylines were nice. I will play this game again soon with your explanations in mind. You already made it better for me even if gameplay-wise BioShock 2 will by far stay the best, and the themes of Inifinite are not always as deep or as interesting as in Rapture. Sure I'm looking forward to listen/watch your Rapture analysis but you deserve a break :)

For all the flaws this game has, its still one of my favorite games to date. The atmosphere, the characters, the world, the story and where it goes. We simply do not get enough of these kind of games. With all the Assasins Creeds, Fallouts, Halos, or Call of Dutys I still feel like we are in the early stages of video game story telling. I'm glad there have been some good exceptions this generation. With most of the AAA titles actually coming from Sony's studios. I take a flawed game with a meaningful story over a dumbed down game with nothing to say every day.

@GameologicalDig7 жыл бұрын
Joseph Narvaez You're not the first person to ask about Bloodborne, but I'm never going to do it, or any Souls title. There are a bunch of loresters out there covering FromSoft games, many of whom are doing great, scholarly examinations of the lore. Vaati, JSF and Regrave understand those worlds better than I do, and I know I won't be able to contribute anything new to that conversation.
@WhiskeyTango76s6 жыл бұрын
In case you haven't watched it yet, he does have a Bloodborne video but it's not lore related but it is damn good imo, Idk if I like this series more or that one BB vid he made. Edit: But if you want lore and haven't checked out JSF yet then you should. Imo he's the best out of the others covering the game.
