FrozenxDeath My point exactly: throughout most of the game you were wandering around destroying what was supposed to be a paradise. By the 1980's (and the end of the game), the magic had completely left Columbia, and it resembled what Rapture was during the events of the Bioshock games: a dilapidated city ruled by a ruthless dictator. At the beginning of the original Bioshock, however, the city was already run-down, and never felt magical at all. I will say that building Rapture seemed more ambitious a project, or at least was presented as more ambitious.

I am Andrew Ryan. And I'm here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? "No!", says the man in Washington, "it belongs to the poor!" "No!", says the man in the Vatican, "it belongs to God!" "No!", says the man in Moscow, "it belongs to everyone!" I rejected all those answers. Instead I chose something different. I chose the impossible! I chose... Rapture! A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where scientists would not be bound by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well.

Bullshit, gameplay first, because that what makes a fucking game. Story is a second. I preffer the original Bioshock, because Bioshock 1 & 2 were very close in terms of gameplay, but the excellent plot delivery from the first made it my favorite. As to Infinite, The story was good, but the gameplay was very much average, bringing it down.

I am a random commenter, and I'm here to ask a question. Can we have a Bioshock movie already? "No!" Says the boomer in Hollywood, he doesn't even know it exists. "No!" Says a random critic, "video game movies can not work". "No!" Says someone else, "the main character is not fleshed out". I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... believe someone big in the industry who is passionate about the game wants to make one. A belief where I'm not bounded to the cruel reality, where I can stretch my imagination, where the small have a chance like the big. And with your love for this game, this belief can be yours as well.

I am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? 'No!' says the man in Washington, 'It belongs to the poor.' 'No!' says the man in the Vatican, 'It belongs to God.' 'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.' I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... Rapture, a city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well.

While the gameplay can be clunky and difficulty spikes are everywhere, BioShock's Atmosphere, soundtrack and stage design are what keeps me always engaged. Plus the twist it's just a nice throwback to the system shock games that this game was clearly emulating

Rapture was suppose to be a symbol of freedom to do religion, to make, to write, to paint, and discover. Without oppression and judgement. But there are things best left undiscovered. So rapture fell because of hate, fear, social and political corruption, and greed. Now all that is left of rapture is war. Children turned into tools for profit and war. And splicers looking for their next fix, but Is there still hope for them? Columbia was supposed to represent redemption, renewal, virtue, and being closer to god. But Columbia was destroyed because of delusion, magic (vigors brooker drinks and Elizabeth ability to go to through time and dimensions) which is considered unholy, and extremist like fear. Still would you forgive?

The thing that scares me about this intro is that when you look down at Rapture, you think to yourself, “could this be were I die?” I mean, when you visit New York and then start living there, you think to yourself that one day you’ll die here.. every place on earth has its dangers..

SPOILERS AHEAD Actually Rapture is like Columbia... in the world of Infinite possibilities we see in BioShock Infinite... all is possibile, all the characters in BioShock Infinite can be compared to the BioShock ones, DeWitt = Jack, Comstock = A.Ryan, Elizabeth = Little Sisters, Songbird = Big Daddies, The Luteces = Tenenbaum and Suchong. I think this series is one of the best (if not the best at all) ever created. And we should not argue which of them is the best. They are all beautiful.

In Bioshock Infinite, when Elizabeth is looking at the bird and cage brooch, she says "The Bird is beautiful... And the Cage is somber, but there is something special about it..." Rapture is enclosed, and has a somber look to it, and is very, very special. While Columbia is a magnificent sight to behold. Keep that in mind.

I don’t see what’s so wrong with infinite? We hardly had anyone to talk to in the first two games (I know it’s all about the loneliness and spooky vibes but come on). Everyone was either batshit crazy bent on killing us or they were people who eventually wound up dead. Infinite was a decent change, not great (please bioshock fanatics, don’t release my head from its shoulders) but decent. Equal love for all three games because i certainly had a blast. All you “fans” can stay thousands of miles beneath the ocean surface, but I’m on equal ground up here.

I mean, there's a lot of people in Columbia but since you can't interact with them, Columbia feels more dead than Rapture. Infinite for me is like turning something like call of duty into a third person shooter. It's not the same thing and it shouldn't be called bioshock
