Amazing video! Also the descriptions. Like someone mentioned before, it would be perfect if there would be written the scientific names. Did you eher see in this biotope hyphessobrycon elachys, corydoras hastatus or an otocinclus species?
@biotopia53194 жыл бұрын
Thank you! In this habitat I've not seen those species although Otocinclus (I think O. bororo) is meant to be present, according to colleagues. H. elachys and C. hastatus are found lower down, in the floodplains of the Pantanal. :)

Lovely piece of work, thank you very much. Do you know the values of the water parameters? Should we assume that, since it is a karstic spring, water his harder that what we usually assume are the 'Amazonic' conditions? Also,all your script is very interesting and entertaining, congratulations. But it would be very helpful (to me at least) if the scientific names of fishes and plants would appear on the screen the first time you mention them; I find it hard to foresee how a scientific name would be pronounced in English =)
@biotopia53194 жыл бұрын
Hi Antón thank you for your message :) I did want to put subtitles but at the moment it's just a lack of time, it takes ages to do it! I am in the process of moving back to Europe so I don't have so much time, but I have a lot of footage that I will eventually add and I will try to include subtitles when I can. Although it's a karst spring, we found the Ph to be around 7, because there is still lots of organic material and wood from the surrounding forest, which helps balance it out. Temperature was normally 26C. :)

Those serpae tetras are not that colourful in the aquarium trade
@biotopia53194 жыл бұрын
@@samuelday6899 Hi Samuel, I think a lot of it has to do with diet; in the wild they are constantly eating lots of micro-organisms, lots of protein, all the time. As with flamingos, this may enhance the red colour and the colours of wild-fish generally.
